I'm interested, depending on price.
Good God! 5 pages in 1 day? Good thing Lynn didn't say limited edition but with this much interest he might have to limit it in which case I am at the end of the line  But Lynn if this goes through I love you for this. :bow I might have to drop out of the Le Grelot but I am in no matter what the price.
As far as the razor I will post what I would like and what I think you should actually do.
What I would like a french or spanish point in a 6/8 or larger. You just don't see these that much so it makes things different. I would like a Damascus from takeda or silvano but preferably takeda. I would like scales in either briar elder, abalone, any sort of horn, ivory, or mother of pearl with my tops being abalone, MOP and ivory. I would like SRP on it and it numbered.
Now for what should be done. This will likley be the best chance for your average srp user to get a maestro. So you should make it for the masses. It should be in 6/8 since that is most usable. It should be in the most reasonable damascus since it will likely be the best chance for them to get a damascus razor but if it is signifacantly cheaper then it should be ATS34 to let the most users in. It should also be made from the olives, ebony, or rosewood. This would let the average person own an art razor.
But I still like it my way.

Sweet
I'm new enough that I don't have any real particulars, but I would love it if I could get a nice simple Maestro with some commemoration of the Great Catastrophe. (Even though I didn't "survive" it . :P) Like many others, I'm in if I can afford it.
-Josh
It would be so sweet, but really I don't think I could afford it. Even as a group buy cost would be what, $500 USD for something that retails for $650? I'm just guessing, please correct me if I'm wrong.
T
Should someone maybe post a poll with razor options to see what the most people want? Keep it simple though with scale choices being like "wood" instead of "olive wood, ebony, etc". Just an idea. Don't know where Lynn and Maestro are with this yet anyway.
Anything around 6/8 would be fine by me.
I do like this size .But I must say that the eventual price may be a sticking point,So I'll confirm when you have more info. But Iam in.Paul
YEEEEEEEEEEHHHAAAAAAAAWWWW!!!
Count me in pardner! :y
I'm probably in. I'd like to see 6/8 to 7/8 with spanish or spike point. I'm not picky about scales as long as they're fancy.
I've VERY interested if it's CARBON :D not that I would be interested if it ended up with the shiny stuff, just not as interested.
Just about all the work I've seen from Livi has been great. I really like his big boys though 7/8 range would be fantastic.
oh no... I gotta start hiding money from the mrs....
This would probably be my best shot at owning a Livi, so I'd love to be included. I suppose it just depends on final price and style.
Personally, I'd go for a nice wood handle, not too flashy. Any blade style is fine. As affordable as possible would be great for me, but I'd hate to hold the collectors back just for the sake of making a newbie happy.;)
definitely interested
I wonder if the manufacturers look at polls and preferences such as those here for the proposed group buy razor? It appears that those buying razors prefer larger sizes, 7/8 seems to be the most frequently mentioned size with Spanish tips mostly wanted as well as lighter colored wood scales.
Most of what is cataloged is 5/8 and 6/8 round tip razors with white or black plastic scales. It would appear that sales could increase significantly were TI and Dovo to make a few subtle changes.
I am most likely interested as well, just depending on final specs and price.
Count me in:)
I'd be in too, depending on price and availabilty.
I'm in, provided the razor winds up being non-astronomical in price.
I think a bigger blade would be cool (most of mine are smaller), and damascus steel if it doesn't break the bank. Don't really care about handles, they are easy to swap.
like I said I don't care about the price, I'll find a way...
I'm thinking about a damascus 6/8 blade with stag or other horn scales.
I agree. At cost? I say make it as nice as possible and find the money! It is exactly like getting a ferrari at factory cost! Yeah it might be expensive but if there is any way to do that wouldn't you rather get that than a Fiat?
I agree. However, looking at the examples of Maestro's work on Straight Razor Design and pics members have posted, I have yet to see a handle that looks cheap. There may be less expensive options but personally I think they're all very nice looking in their own respects and it really comes down to personal preference.
Anyway, I'm pretty excited about this and don't have too much of a preference one way or the other as far as scales are concerned, though I'd have to say MOP or abolone would be my last choices.
I'm very interested to see what we're able to come up with. No matter what, I think it will be pretty sweet. :y
Cheers,
Casey
Awaiting final design???? I'm in too here!!!!
I would love anything 6/8 or below but thats just me, lets see what the group consensus is....
Hey watch the Ford knock there Mike I gotta finance a whole lot of Fords to be able to afford this razor :roflmao :roflmao :roflmao
Heck I might even consider selling my 6/8 mint Filarmonica to finance this...
although I definitely would prefer a 7/8ths
oh, and there's nothing wrong with a Ford, except that it's not a Ferarri
you can put ivory and gold scales on a Wapi, it will still be a Wapi
If Livi decides to put pine scales on one of his blades, It's still a Livi, and you'd be a fool to change it.
Does that mean I want pine scales Heck no... I'd like olive wood, but I do want that signature on the scales also.
I'm in as well! a little delayed but all these ideas sound like beautiful razors...I'm not too particular, I'm just looking forward to this!
erik
Actually, he does inscribe his name on the scales. Should i want differnt scales on a my Maestro... it would be visiting the shop of its birth in Italy... unless i could get him to fly over and do the change at my house:)
slapping any old scales on a work of art would be like adding a 13 apostle to the last supper. i would apply this to any craftsman's work... it would be like painting a camo pattern on a walnut Purdey.
Well, 89 people have voted in the unofficial poll...
and the results stand as such:
size is neck and neck so we'll have to see what Lynn decides.
ATS 34 steel won out by a small margin, and I'm assuming price was the deciding factor there. maybe when Lynn gets price info we'll see if things stay the same.
Wood handle won out by a landslide and Olive seems to be popular.
and Spanisjh point won by a large margin.
So now we know what we want as a group, lets see what Livi offers. :D
Let me be the first to say that credit cards and paypal are standing by.
I have $400 put aside, and am working on more...
i would like something on the wedge side to quarter hollow, 6/8 or bigger. maybe he could run the numbers for an option on blade material with all the same design, i really like the looks of the damascus blades. i lean towards square or french points
I just need the numbers. I have $400 set aside for this.
