I shaved with my ATS34 olive wood last night I've not used it for months .. and it was the best shave I've had for a while .. I agree with thebigspendur , I've got other razors that shave just as well but when you have a livi in your hands ( I only have livi's so i can only I guess, any other of the guys customs also ) you know it's something special .. Even the mastro's regrind have a quality to feel to them imho .
They are outstanding value for money & of course are outstanding shavers .

Man, my not being able to collect unemployment anymore along with not being able to find a job doesn't make me feel good about the group buy anymore... I need free healthcare.
Being a Security Forces veteran of the Air Force I should probably be offended by that. But when I got out, they truly were taking in just about anybody that was brave enough to sign the dotted line. Drug dealers, thieves, gang members and everyday thugs. I'm glad I got out when I did, they were driving me nuts.;)
Speaking of disabled. How does one become retried Army? If you don't do it right you get to retry?:D
It seems we have a lot of different requests and price ranges wished for. It might be a good idea to have two choices with the less expensive steel and cheaper scales and maybe Damascus with horn scales of some kind. A lower end price wise and an upper end in Damascus. Oh no, now I'm going to have to get two of them.

I'm just really excited about the prospect at getting a Livi (especially at a reduced rate) and have decided that whatever Lynn and the Maestro come up with will be fantastic and well worth whatever the cost turns out to be. I'll find a way to make it happen! :tu
I would more support the less expensive options just because it may be within my reach. I am one of the folks that can't really give an opinion on specific choices since odds are, I won't be able to afford it.
With that said, the I'm sure a custom (or rather limited edition) razor from the Maestro will be excellent regardless of the final options.....
Waiting to see how this pans out!

Maybe a regrind and a Damascus then, to cover both ends of the spectrum?
Let's see what the Maestro says
Cheers
Ivo
The less expensive options may be the regrinds, but I'm guessing that option won't be raised with the Maestro.
To save maximal money, we could always go to the Dovo faux tortise shell in 6/8 with SRP vibrator etched on the back scale. :nj
Could Zeepk make a special run of 7/8 blades?
Maybe I should stop now:tu
Lynn,
The troops seem to be getting restless, mighty restless. You can tell that by their insistence on raising the 8th factor. Within a few days they should be up to 8-8ths and soon may be crowding 9. If this goes on much longer we probably will have to change to 1/4's as they nickle and dime their way up the widths.:nj
Is there any word from the Maestro yet? How's he at making 4/halves blades? Tsunamis may become insignificant in comparison. We may not be able to find enough moose antlers for scales - oh my!
:roflmao :roflmao
no no no please no choices... I'll have no choice but to get them both...
Relax Guys it will be a great razor at a great price for a Livi, We are looking at value, to bring the beauty of a Livi to the most people. It wont be cheap but it will be a value.
Exactly, Lynn will get us the best razor he can for a price more of us can afford.
It would be insulting to ask Livi to sell us razors at 1/3 of his usual price... and he might just send us some Zeepks for trying...:D
Granted we won't all be able to buy one... or justify the cost to SWMBO... but if you can, you won't be sorry.
If you want a cheap razor I'll sell you a shave ready wapi at 1/10th the price... just go over to B/S/T and sign up...
But it won't be a Livi...
Well fortunately I have just landed myself a new job that brings with it a hefty pay increase.....
So guess what the first lot of extra dosh is going on!?
I think 12/8ths would be a bit much... but my favorite razor is a 8/8...
since you're throwing it out there...
C'mon guys you don't want a girlie little 6/8ths... get a man's razor!
I'm waiting to see if I can find a maker to create an affordable real working 2/1 scale giant shave ready razor... 16/8ths 6 inch long edge, and over 12 inches closed...
who'd like to shave with that monster???:w
Girly or not I want to shave with it not look at it.
- Bob
C-mon, you can shave with an 8/8ths
:D
I have 2 I shave with and they are great. I would go for an 8/8 in a heart beat.
You could get bill to make you up a nice bowie knife and shave with that instead.
- Bob
It's not the same, I've got a 8/8 coming is a few months from Robert Williams, it would be nice to have a livi too...
and contrary to popular belief, an 8/8 is not oversized or difficult to use... the added weight makes the blade do the work for you, and it just glides through the hair.
I find myself only using the front half of the edge on a 5/8. But we are starting to get off track....
Maestro Livi group buy. Any updates on When, how many, how much, what options?
I have no idea but even if we see a 50% drop off rate when price happens as 500+ will weed plenty of people out this is still likely to be 10-20k of business and labour for Livi. How long would it take to produce 40 razors of adequate quality? If it's with existing blanks and on a production line I would guess pretty quick but if its custom steel, filework, hand picked scales and a labour of love it could take a very long time.
- Bob
I'd be in depending on price and design.
I think allowing the Maestro to set the design based on a certain set price level is the best way. It may also allow the razor concept to be influenced by the maker; and ensure that the product is deliverable in the numbers needed.
Those who want super exotic materials etc are probably barking up the wrong tree here. I feel that the price needs to be kept at around the $250 sweet spot. Anyone who wants the exotic things should be able to have a custom made razor.
I'll probably* pass on this actually. I've just placed an order with the Maestro independantly, as it's unlikely (IMO) that he'd be able to cater for everyone's individual requirements with such a large order, and I have something fairly specific in mind that I don't want to compromise on.
Having said that, I'm pretty sure whatever gets arranged, you guys will be more than happy with.
Hopefully I'll get mine in my hands before the Maestro gets backed up for 9 months with the giant SRP order. :D
* never say never - obviously. ;)
I've decided to pass. I can't afford spending anything over $50 when I have 5 perfectly good razors at home. No matter HOW beautifull they are.
I've already got one of those, but you have to be really careful about the tip... you think a spike is dangerous...

Lynn's been awefully quiet, and this was getting towards the bottom of the page, so I thought I'd bump it back up top...
Any new info for us Lynn?
OK everyone relax, We have the convention going on right now finishing up the QED buy. Working on site improvements and you know that damn work thing gets in the way. We will post back when we have more info.
Aww, come on Taz. Can't you at least send out some of your Livis to us to tide us over? :P
