Thanked: 150It's ugly.
And a ridiculous rip off.
I wonder how some people sleep at night.

Hey, if I could get people to pay 30K for a razor, I'd do so in a flash. Only I don't have the starting capital to begin and finance a good campaign.
Trust me, I wouldn't lose any sleep over getting stupid people with way too much money to give some of it to me.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Ok i yeah I was joking unfunnyly I suppose earlier. I agree this jewel is not to my taste either. Still I see no reason to berate the option for those who need the status symbol comfort quotient. I would guess my foray into straight shaving has thus far consumed a far greater portion of annual income than the sad sack, bloated, consumer obcessed capitalist pig drug dealer/ computer game designer/wall street....rapper.... on my goodness rantmode: off
Hey I wonder who made the blade?

Dunno. There are more than enough knifemakers who could make a blade like that, and pattern welded steel is not rare.
The blade shape isn't anything special so I doubt it was made by someone who specializes in razors. At least not for the budget you'd have available. If it retails for 30K, the blade budget could easily be 1000$ without hurting, and for that amount of money, the usual suspects could really make somethign special.
And why not wootz or tamahagane. That would have made it even more special.
Also the smith didn;t make the scales, because platinum is very difficult to work with, and totally different from steel.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 150I guess I was trying to imply that I couldn't sleep at night charging someone that kind of money for a below average damascus razor with shiny scales.
But then again, I'd never want my work to be an impersonal purchase like that. So, more correctly, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night charging 30k to someone who is worth making a razor for.

You guys with this negative talk are giving me a serious case of buyers remorse. That, with the old lady bitching the tent isn't big enough for all my other junk is really making me regret this decision. Now I find the return policy is not very buyer friendly. =this is going to be a long day

I'm a little curious about this razor. It's ugly, that's for sure. So much so it needs to be taken out back and shot. Still, I wouldn't mind trying to shave with it. It also inspires me ask a question:
Are there any other razors 'reverse weighted' like this, where the scales are dramatically heavier than the blade? I'm only assuming this because (and this was already mentioned) platinum is so damn heavy.
