With all this the biggest difference between the 2 forums are the owners. Joel as the owner gets to much involved in threads, heated discussions and arguments as where Lynn and Don both do exactly what they should be doing. Being interestingly active while not getting involved in any heated discussions. They let the mods take care of things if needed and try not to get involved. I have never seen Lynn or Don get nasty or mean against a poster.

The reason I joined B&B was for the soap and brush info. What I found were some pretty resistant attitudes. Not everyone mind you, but the outspoken ones were very outspoken. The off topic conversations quickly degraded and became a moron fest for all involved. Who needs it? If I've got some questions about after shave I can just ask here. The fact that those things are less frequently discussed here does not mean they will be less well informed or more respectfully communicated.

If you need more info on the "soft" side (soaps, creams, brushes, even DE and SE) try shavemyface.com. Same great atmosphere you find here, and a focus on the soaps and creams. And the info on the soaps and creams is less fad driven - you get very different views on what people like.

Thanked: 17I agree with Ray, if you read the post, I can understand the actions on locking the thread. Lots of unneeded sarcasm. As for the ban, I don't know the full story so I can't comment. But read the thread before you make any hasty judgements on the other B&B mods.
They've got their forum, we have ours. Life goes on...

Fwiw, I'd like to point out that Lynn and Don have put Byron, Doc and me in charge, and very rarely if ever make a decision when it comes to moderation and bannings. So if action is taken against a member, or if policy decisions have to be made, it virtually always originates from the 3 of us.
In a way this is as it should be. This way we prevent the site from being a reflection of their opinions, or the appearance of such a thing. Also in this place, administrators and moderators have to behave just like everybody else.
I once moderated an admin here. In a way this was a risky thing for me to do, but otoh, I figured that if this was a place where there were different rules for different people, I didn't want to be a moderator anyway.
The fact that I am still a mod proves that this is a place where we all try to do the right thing.
It also says a lot that apart from the occasional (short) temp ban, only a handful of people (less than 10 I think) have been permanently banned over the last couple of years. Apart from about 800 spammersLast edited by Bruno; 02-19-2009 at 05:32 PM.

There's nothing hasty about my judgments. As you can tell by the number of respected members in this thread who have been banned for life there, this is a systemic problem for B&B. That said, I am still a member there and don't want to hold any grudges against them. Just calling it like it is.

Just to help maintain the integrated equality we each appreciatively share here; I suggest we all go get banned for life

Actually, I read many, many threads there over the better part of two years and when you see the same thing happen to many respectable people, over and over again and then look at the common factors...well. I certainly encourage everyone to form their own opinion, and I respect your point jimmyray, but it was more than one instance. Life indeed goes on and it's better without the drama

In reality, it's probably time to close this thread. At least in this particular sub-forum. This is a discussion forum about RAZORS, not what happened/happens on other sites. I am not taking any sides on this because, frankly, I don't care. I want to be educated by others experiences and knowledge, not what happens elsewhere. And this is the forum I go to for that knowledge...
