Your lucky to have an Ellis. He wouldn't even put me on his wait list. Are all these razors, Chandler, Williams,Zowada, over 1000 dollars? I have a Livi NOS. It only cost 300.
I have yet to pull the trigger on a razor costing over 1k. Other than Aesthetics, would I know where all that money went?We have assumed control !

Thanked: 156While the high end Williams may very well cost over $1k, I know he offers razors under $1k. Wasn't there Livis on the SRD site for under $1k too? I don't know, I try not to look at the price for fear of being tempted.
Wonder how much an Ellis is really worth? No one wants to sell theirs and getting on the list is probably not going to happen.... Anyway, heres some porn because I think this thread is a little short on pics.

Every one of my customs was under $1K, in fact they were all under $500. I've had good fortune & timing in buying these.
It's debatable if the higher cost gets a better shaving razor. It really is the aesthetics, and attention to detail in the design & manufacture, of the custom makers' pieces (plus their limited availability) that make them desireable and sought after.

I couldn't get on the waiting list either, Zib. Probably a good thing! There are a couple of customs that i want above all others. One's nearly mine, the other was an Ellis!
I think that with a few of the makers, you have to push the options to get around $1k. From my limited research, if you were able to restrain yourself, you'd get one for a surprisingly reasonable price.

Thanked: 324From me you have to really push the envelope to end up at 1K. They start at $300.00. I'd prefer to let others discuss whether or not you can tell where the money went when you shave with a Williams razor. That's too subjective for me to remark on, I think.

That's really very reasonable for something that's been hand crafted. It amazed me when i made my initial enquiry to you Robert!

Thanked: 156Robert's prices are more than reasonable. : So are Bill's, but as has been discussed, good luck getting on the list to get on the list now.

How long is wait on the list? (probably not long enough for Mrs Py to get over my latest round of RAD, HAD, and CAD).
