:, bute...
LOL. I had a double take when I read this because in my head the first time speed reading it through, my brain interpreted... the best way to [arse]s a razor... (I pronounce it the British way, and since the American way has no spelling distinction...)
I know you meant assess. Its just that its one of those times when a single letter makes all the difference. Lol. Sorry for being OT.

Thanked: 14Hey Guys,
First I want to say thank you for the wealth of information on this forum. I am a straight shaving newbie, and there is no way I could have figured this stuff out without you guys. As I have been in Shanghai for 6 years, I don't normally order things from the States until I am back for a visit, and as such I haven't gotten Lynn's video yet, but I will when I go back.
That said, I am not sure if I am posting in the correct thread or I should start my own, but I have a fake dovo question as well. I had been using a Kropp that I restored the blade on, but as the scales were looking a little rough, I kept hinting to the fiancée that I was looking for a new razor. After numerous searches and finding lots of DAs, Chaoba's, and Gold Dollars, I finally found a store that had 2 "NOS Dovos."
The lady wouldn't let me open break the seal on the gold sticker to look at it, so I came back home to research the old packaging. As the packaging looked ok, I had the fiancée go back today and pick one up for me while I was at work. After opening it up when I got home, everything looked ok, until I got to the "Made in Germany" stamp on the tang. Mine says "Made in Slrmany" or something. All the details look right except for that. I couldn't find anyone else with similar problems. If it is a fake, they did a good job, not sure why they would have done everything else right other than that. Anyway, here are some pics. Sorry for the quality, first time trying to photograph razors. If anyone has a clue, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Definitely not her fault. It's just extremely weird because the box and scales certainly (to my untrained eye) look authentic.
I also don't see any of the heavy tool marks usually visible on cheap knock offs, but I can't imagine the fine people of DOVO just happen to have a misprinted plate running around their factory...

why don't you write Dovo and ask? couldn't hurt...

Thanked: 14Yeah, that was my exact thought. Seems impossible to have a plate that is off, especially for the COO (country of origin) mark.
And she is more upset that someone would want to cheat her. The weird thing about it is, if it is fake, I would assume I would see a lot more of them. However, I have only seen 2 (both in the same shop) in the roughly 50+ shops we went into.
