Kinda like the dubl duck Dwarf and the Torrey little Gem, but a little shorter. In that respect it does have a purpose and value.

However, if this is your first razor, it isn't a good razor for you. If you had asked me thru the auction "Ask The Seller A Question" option, I would have steered you away from it. At the start of this post my thinking was to offer you a refund, but in thinking about it I am sure the best thing is to just give you a refund and this will work especially well since I haven't mailed it to you yet and wouldn't have until tuesday, (monday is a postal holiday) so I will send you a copy of this post, off post, and hope to hear from you. It sounds like you are having buyer's remorse and that is due to your inexperience. That comes with great acceptance and understanding on my part because we have all been there. In the meantime I will issue you a refund for the full amount you paid and hope to hear from you with a confirmation of this. You may e-mail me at rofak@hotmail.com or you may call me anytime at 615-826-0174.

While I am a member here, I don't post very often, but I do get feedback of all the very nice things that are said about my razors, the quaity of them and the nice remarks about my honesty and character. The beginning of these threads is an example of those remarks and I feel humbled with much gratitude for them and the people concerned.

I did feel the need to respond here, as well as directly to you, in view of Glen's post in relation to this particular subject, and others he has posted regrading myself and my restorations.

    Hope to hear from you,
    Sincerely, Bob Keyes
Thank you so much for agreeing to refund my money. I will certainly look at your razors in the future, when I am educated enough to make such a decision.

This was an interesting thread thanks to the more experienced folks who chimed in. As a newbie it was cool to see some guys make comments as I might have overlooked them when purchasing or just looking at a razor. It's made me look at the razor a little differently.

In the end, isn't some of this personal preference? I mean as far as the look of the scales and razor or the proportions of the blade? As far as whether it's a collector's item or a comment on the relative value of the razor, I can see that being objective.

    Just my thoughts...

In the end it's where you spend your money and what's important to you.

My own feeling with your razor is that once you cut down a razor it's just not the same no matter the brand. I do agree with Glen on this.Your vendor here is a true stand-up guy with a gold plated reputation and because of that his prices are a match but that's the eboy process not him.

Probably the razor would shave just fine but the price you paid, I have to agree is not a great bargin.

A senior moderator, and by that title a spokesperson for this website, has falsely accused me of being dishonest. I stated my personal and good opinion about the razor, based on my knowledge of the person who restored it. I have no financial interest in the razor, so do not have any incentive to lie. A century ago, we would be meeting on the field of honor. Now, I can only demand a retraction about the "get honest" slur on my character. Your move, Glenn.

Why would any of you tell a Newb that this is a good buy???

You can BUY a real GE for that or less right now easily...

This is a cut down blade, in mis-matched, over-sized scales, I wouldn't even donate that razor to a Newb for free.. I am sorry but statements like that lead to buys like he did...

Get honest here gents... end of rant

In fact BGA ask for a refund on that one, PM me yer address, and I will send you a whole razor for free...

No apologies are necessary. No one is attacking the integrity of the seller, who I have known for a while as well. I do not read that your integrity is being challenged and basically we have an opinion that I agree with, to be honest, that this simply is not the kind or condition of razor that we would either recommend or call a great deal.

I hope this is your last post on the subject.

    Thanks,

    Lynn

I wanted to make one more point on this thread and hopefully it will end there. I have bought razors from Bob and have never had a problem with any of them. I just recently picked up one from him that is a brand that I particularly like and it went into my permanent collection.

We have a lot of opinions here on this forum both from people who have been around awhile and have some significant experience and knowledge regarding straight razors, wetshaving, honing and a bunch more. We also have some folks here who just like posting. In either case, this place tries to keep an objective approach to all the areas we talk about with no special agenda's or need to personally attack any one or any product. We have but one objective here and that is to promote this wonderful art that so many of us have come to love and enjoy with honesty, integrity and credibility. SRP has always been the best place for straight razor information and continues to be just that and I hope that everyone in here is here to learn and help others get the most out of their straight razor shaving experience.

I really hate to see a thread like this and I would truly hope that the originator has learned a lesson. I hope that lesson would be to post a question like this before a purchase is made and not after.

    Thanks and have fun,

    Lynn

Sorry Bob, but I am closing this thread. I really don't see the need your last post here or the need for the defensiveness. I guess you didn't read my posts.

    Wishing you the best,

    Lynn
