My wife doesn't seem to mind me spending money on my hobbies.
I make the money myself, so I spend it the way I see fit seems to be her attitude towards that end of it.
However, When asked about how much I have spent, I really must plead the fifth
Space in the bathroom is a whole other story.
She really thinks "her" bathroom is getting a very masculine vibe.
My plan is to build a new bathroom for Her and our youngest kid (female)
That would leave me and the boy with our very own cave.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Recently I realized how I know that I have too many razors, or rather, I'm trying to shave with too many in my rotation. Simply put, I have several that I enjoy using way more than the others. I go through my razors on a pretty definite rotation, and so my "favorites" don't come up often enough. I do straight shaving 60% for the sheer pleasure of it, 40% for the actual great shave I get, which is part of the pleasure too. So recently when I realized I was impatient when a razor came up that isn't really a favorite, I knew I had too many in the rotation.
So my plan now is to use them all one time and sort them into favorites and not-favorites, and then maybe clean and store the not-favorites and just enjoy my faves. Periodically I'll shave through my not-faves and who knows, maybe a fresh honing or something will boost their status. Or I can sell them, or give them to folks who can't afford to buy a nice razor.
So: you know you have too many razors when you regret that your favorites come around to seldom.

I started straight shaving to save money!
I got tired of buying those multimillion bladed modern marvels all the time. Buy a straight razor use it my entire life and pass it on to the kids. Now I have one new razor I use and several that I am working on, plus several soaps, a couple hones, and more bottles of stuff than my wife. I don't know how much I've spent, but I do need to order some parts to replace some pivot pins. My wife also thinks this has taken a life of its own, but she doesn't mind too much. I just have to make sure we communicate before purchases so she's not suprised. Make sure the money is there and don't use the plastic. Ebay has never run out of razors as far as I can tell. And another "once in a life time" deal will show up again. I stopped wasting money on junk and now have a hobby. Not a bad trade off.

LINE? who said there was a line?,enough is never enough.............Although,now that I think about it the razors were a minor expense when compared to buying the stones & hones. The first five razors were bought before they went crazy with the prices, the next ten weren't too bad with the exception if the TI Silverwing, that stung a bit (her not me), but the stones were a little more of a challenge, One set of Norton's $120, one coti 60, ch12 $30, thurry,$170,and a Swaty $35,the strops weren't bad,2 Illinois $40, and one SRP 3 inch $60. so the razors aren't the hard part its the incidentals that add up, I also know that know that there isnt any way to explain SWMBO why I need to spend $500 on what to her is just a rock,no matter the color

Hmmmm... I guess it depends what type of guy you are if you've gone too far.
I happen to by the type of guy that when I decide to do something I just go nuts. . Since I've started shaving (one month more or less) I've purchased a lot of stuff and tried a lot of things So I think that you're doing just fine. Sooner or later I calm down and the excitement of the new wears off and I just enjoy the hobby.
Personally, my girlfriend gets mad when I talk about shaving "all the time" so I've been there on that one. We don't live together yet so I don't have to worry about the bathroom situation yet!

Thankfully, my girlfriend loves straight razors and is quite fine with any amount I spend on my collection. As long as she gets to do her own shopping that is, though she's said a few times (whether or not it's in jest I don't know) that I am completely obsessed with razors.
We're getting ready to move to England so I think I might have to cut down on the spending temporarily.
