    Default How many razors do you have by brand?

    If you peruse through SRP long enough of do a search on a specific topic you will notice some popular topics repeated numerous times and one of the topics would be "What is the best razor?". The answer to that question is dependent on personal preferences and changes by the day. A better question would be "What brand razors do you have more than one of?". This would not answer the 'Best' question but rather which brand is worth buying more than one of.

    I keep my razors in a database I designed for easy reference, cost, date purchased and other trivia. At this time about 25% of my razors were purchased off ebay the rest are local finds. When I first started on this journey most came from ebay. Today, it is rare that I buy an ebay razor. I don't buy just a specific brand when we go hunting but purchase razors where the countries of origin have a good track record. I am very rarely disappointed. The counts by manufacturer I posted below are as much a statistic of what brands were popular in my area of the country, Western New York state, as much as it states which brands I would purchase more than one of. This is a count of all of our razors, CarrieM, JrJoed and myself. CarrieM has us beat with her JR Torrey's.

    Lastly, the average cost per razor, including the brands with a count of 1 is $27.78 for those of you that keep asking about the value of your razor. Do note that this will not help you determine the value of your razor but will reflect on what I am willing to pay for a razor. We have left many a razors behind because they looked just fine were they were displayed (too expensive for the value we put on them).

    So, here's our list of manufacturers with the razor counts. I am only listing the brands with counts over one. Please excuse the formatting as I just cut and pasted from the database query.

    This is going to take a while and I'm not such a good typist. I live in Florida, but I look for razors wherever I travel. Mine come from everywhere: flea markets, estate auction, eBay, yard sales, Craig's List, etc.. I love the hunt!

    I have a few "Collections" going that I tend to like these brands

    Dubl Duck = 11
    C-MON = 8
    Beau Brummel = 5
    Kinfolks = 4
    Geneva/Genco = 4
    Shumate = 10
    Puma = 3
    Cattaraugus = 3
    Hess = 6
    Thistle = 4
    Boker = 4
    Henckels = 3

    My razor of choice for my face/taste is a 5/8-6/8 Extreme Hollow grind with a spike point and bright flashy scales, I tend to like Solingen and NY American steels so they make up about 80% of my razors. I have only 2 Sheffield blades in my collection, a W&B Special and a Bengall... I have a few Customs, a couple of Filarmonica's and TI's and a few Japanese razors and Kamisori that I really enjoy, I have at last count 97 razors, which is way more than I need, but way less than I would like

    I don't really know. I've got about 150 straights (give or take a few). I know I've got 15 Customs, approx 40 German, 30 Sheffield, 25 French, 20 Swedish, 5 US, 5 Japanese, 5 Spanish, 5 Russian and a few unknowns.
