I am so jealous... Especially because I saw that item on e ah and passed it because I didn't like the sellers pics and didn't want to shell out too much money... >.<

That's a good lesson for eBay Sellers: Be careful with your photography... Better pictures = more money in your pocket. Nice score, Chef!

Perhaps the seller had two W&B for sale and sent you the wrong one. Congrats on a great find.

No,heres my question to and response I received from the seller, before I sent payment..

    "Hi,

I won your W&B straight razor..I saw it toward the end of bidding..Im noticing on the non etched side of the blade, what looks like rust on the blades edge..Or is that just the light/reflection in that photo? Please let me know..I would like to have this honed for my personal use, and if its rust it seems to be on the blades edge, which is no good for me..............."

"Any discoloration was the result of camera and light. It shows no signs of any rust. I never thought it would be bought for anything other than a collectible, but it is in new condition and appears to fit your needs."

5 Stars!!!! Top Notch Communication!!! Excellent Ebayer!!!!

you are very lucky!! but that is not the same razor that is on page 1 in the pic from the seller lol...it has loads of scratches in the first pic and the razor you have there has none. Unless he did a total restore before sending it to you lol. either way. that thing is sooooo nice congrats!

It is the same razor, I assure you!! If I take a photo now, in a certain lighting angle, it amplifies, the tiniest hairline scratches, as well as whatever is around that may be reflecting, and adding some color (hence, why originally thought the blade was rusty)
....The seller is just an antique/salvage type ebayer..Hes not necessarily a straight razor guy..Apaprently he had an Old Backpack(made out of a wood frame, with wrought iron nails), from the 1800's that came his way, with this, and 2 other straights in it (a beat up For Barbers Use, and another nice one with cracked horn scales), as well as "items typically carried in a backpack" according to him...Either that or hes Ebay Santa Claus, and just decided to send me a different razor worth 4 times what I paid....

The other razor the seller offered appeared to be a very well used Joseph Rodgers & Sons "regimental" or maybe an officer's razor as the handle had a number stamped on the shield, another cut into the horn, and a name scratched in the handle as well..
