My W&B arrived today!!! and its NOS!!!!
Sorry for posting twice, but Im just excited..I posted about this razor immediately after I won the ebay auction the other day, asking about the scales, whether theyre original and date/history of it.The sellers Photos looked like the blade was rusty..Well it arrived today and, I am friggin speechless....It hasnt a mark on it..Never honed..No rust, No marks, Perfect scales, Unbelievable!!! The picture below is from the seller on ebay, and they looked like there may be some rust on the blade, not only is there not any rust, it looks as though it was manufactured yesterday April 27 2012!!! I dont mean to gloat, Im just more than pleasantly surprised, and baffled, as to how this razor stayed in such condition for over 100 years!!! The seller said it was found wrapped in an old late 1800's era backpack...Anyway, Im hesitant to even hone it up..I know I may be making a big thing out of nothing. For all I know Im just a naive newbie, and this is common.... but DAMN ITS NICE!!!
This is what I thought I was getting.......

Its the same razor!! I swear! here is the link to the other thread I posted with the sellers photos.http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...story-w-b.html...All i did was breathe on it and wipe it with a jewelery cloth that I use for my watches, and thats what it looks like....To be fair, the ebay seller did tell me, it looks like its never been used, and the rust isnt rust , just glare..But hes an ebay seller!! I definitely didnt expect this...

Nice work. Hone the sucker up and shave with it. Looks as about a half-hollow. It will hone up soooo easy! Do it!

Thanked: 884BEAUTIFUL RAZOR!! Great score!
Take some really good pics of the way the steel is finished so maybe some of the restoration guys will have better idea of what those razors looked like when new.
If I recall that finish was called a "glaze finish" on pocket knives. If they were really shiny, it was known as a crocus finish and pocket knives usually had the crocus finish on just one side of the blade.
I've got an NOS Challenge Razor Works that I'll never hone or use, but I would be sorely tempted to put that dumplin to work.
That's a treasure for sure.
