Thanked: 3225Sorry to hear that it turned out the way it did. That and other complaints here and elsewhere is what keeps me from dropping some coin on a TI. No such complaints with the only new razor I have ordered in, a Revisor. Geez that stinks.

They are one of the few good old school razor makers left.
They will ship it safe and sound.
Shave ready is up in the air.
My now decades old new TI was sharp enough new but the bevel was not well set
and when it did need honing it took a bit of work on my coti.
When you get it... shave test it.
If it needs honing send it out. If it shaves well strop and use as normal.
When it needs to be honed the odds of the bevel being ideal are only 50:50 so
plan to send it out once.... or plan to reset the bevel yourself when you need to hone it....
TI razor steel is harder than most old razor steel. Use a gentle touch and
revisit the hone as needed. A Norton combo 4k/8k pyramid method works well
as do other methods.
It will give you lots of pleasure. They make a fine razor.
EDIT: Gadzooks... rust and pitting on a new razor and painful return policies... woof....Last edited by niftyshaving; 04-12-2013 at 12:06 AM.

Thanked: 12After reading their return policies it appears as though I will have to pay more money to return it, so I'm just going to keep it. I took some 2500 grit sandpaper to the pitting and I can't even see it now so looks wise I'm happy. Most other defects are minor. The etching after using flitz on it turned from black to gray, but it wasn't very black to begin with. The little chunk of wood is very small that's been taken out around the pin and can only be noticed if i stick my face within 2 inches of the handle. The pitting was the biggest defect in my eyes as it was very noticable right out of the box... but now is gone . Their was also a little bit of wiring on the edge near the middle but i stropped it on some crox than did a bunch on leather and it's gone. Went from not being able to pass the HHT straight out of the box to passing it with a fair bit of ease after some stropping.

Thanked: 12Here she be.
7/8" 1/2 grind hook nose Dreadnought in red box elder scales.
The scales look like molten lava, much more vivid in person.

Thanked: 12Shaved alright. Had a weeks worth of growth and it plowed through everything but the chin no problem. Did a long sweeping stroke for the first stroke down the right side of my face and it looked BBS from the first pass lol was really nice to see. 2x pass on the neck left it completely bbs which surprised me and the cheeks very close to. When i went for a 3rd pass to try to get those areas i felt had a bit of stubble left I couldn't quite get all the hairs, but it left it smooth enough. Glad This is a 1/2 grind as my first was an extra hollow grind and it had a lot of trouble with the chin... this one seems to push it's way through with a lot less effort.
Got a naniwa 12k coming in the mail on Monday. Going to dink around on that to see if i can refine the edge a bit more as it's not passing the HHT as much as I'd like and it still tugs a bit in some areas. Thinning the edge should do just the trick.
Cheers
