The Naniwa 12k hone gives me a darn fine edge. You will have fun.
Some tugging has less to do with the edge than your "Lathering".
Whisker prep is important.... too much soaking and the skin gets
"soggy" too little and the whiskers will not shave as nice and clean as
they might.
Natural skin oil can keep the whiskers from softening so make sure
your latherin begins with a nice cleaning.... For some this starts with
a shower.... for me I have taken to face lathering early before the lather
is fully developed. My initial face scrubbing begins softening my whiskers then
I keep working the lather in a bowl so I have a thick lather to paint on.

Thanked: 12Naw, I'm 99.9% sure it's the edge. WHen i feel it with my fingers i can tell it's not quite their and even with a good bit of stropping it still isn't getting where I want it. Needs to be honed better. Best shave I've had so far was with my old razor and the better the blade was at doing the HHT the less tug I felt in thick growth areas. I can tell now when the blades sharp enough by touching it... has a stickiness to it where this one doesn't. Plus this blade came with wiring in the center which i haven't bothered honing out... instead i stropped it on crox and leather like 100x and it's barely visible now. But I will be honing it before my next shave.
As far as I know and have read on here though... tugging is a huge indication of dullness.
