    Default Thiers Issard

Anyone in canada order anything from them? If so how do they ship razors (oiled and ready to shave with?, wrapped up nicely so it won't get hurt in transit etc?), will customs be expensive or will their even be any? I've ordered many items from the UK and never payed customs before... the states is the only places I've had a fee to pay upon arrival so customs is one of those things I can't quite figure out.

I already ordered a blade from them since none of the canadian stores had what I wanted in stock so I'm trying to find out what's to be expected when it arrives.

Also if you know anything else about them that might be good to know I'd love to read it.

    Any help is greatly appreciated,

    Thanks.

I don't live in Canada so I can't offer any experience with customs fees, nor have I ordered directly from Thiers so I cannot help there either. I can tell you that I have quite a few Thiers razors and they are one of my favorite brands. Whatever it ends up costing will be forgotten while the razor will serve you for the rest of your life if you take good care of it.

They have some of the most colorful and detailed razors I've seen from all the manufacturers especially their exotic wood scales. along with the highest price lol. I've read about problems with their scales and that their hard to hone since the metal they use is very hard. The honing part didn't bother me though as I found it to be more of a reassurance to purchase, since it would mean it would be strong and hold an edge longer as I've also read.

Were the TI's you recieved shave ready? Read a lot of people stating that TI is pretty good when it comes to that.

Also do they all come with leather carrying cases? The one I ordered was listed as "special purchase" and didn't include any photo's or description other than what was listed with all the other razors. I'm assumning they all do but... can't be too sure... for the price though I certainly hope so lol.

I never ordered directly from them either but I did trade for a 7/8 eagle wing. WOW is it ever an incredible shaver. The guy that owned it before me took great care of it and yes, it came with a leather pouch to store it in. I don't use it but it's cool to have. My razor has the ram horn scales and while I find them to be beautiful, they are quite large and overly heavy. The only thing i DON'T like about the razor is the balance of blade to scale weight that makes me have to pay extra attention to what i'm doing when honing or stropping.

Have had a number of TIs,am certain they are great blades. But as above,I have always found the scales to be far to thick and out of porportion, sort of clunky.

Never order directly. To expensive for me. But I would very seriously doubt they wouldn't go to all lengths to make sure they arrive in perfect condition.

I can't attest to ordering with Thiers Issard but if your package is coming via post it is random whether or not you will pay customs. If it is under a $100 likely not. I have ordered from various places around the world and find if the value is over $200 then I likely am going to pay. You can guarantee you're going to pay both customs and broker fees if it's coming by courier.

I have 2 modern TIs both 11/16" and both with exotic wood handles and find the balance perfect with these. They are great shavers and a joy to behold!
