Just keep saying to yourself "it's just another razor that's all"

I have some and they are very nice but I have some vintage razors I paid $60 for that shave just as good.

I am sorry the thread I started when I bought my very first Mastro Livi is giving you all those "bad feelings". I sincerely wish you to have the chance to buy and try a Mastro Livi razor yourself.
As far as I am concerned, a Mastro Livi is not simply "just another straight razor" as to me they mean many things: superior quality of the shave, Italian craftsmanship made by a fine artisan, a work of art, more than sixty years of daily experimentation in order to provide reliable quality. Of course, your mileage may vary, and you may be interested in other aspects about straight razors, but to me, when I shave, I want it to be luxurious and enjoyable. A nice looking and performing straight razor is, of course, one of the most important factors.
My opinion, of course, while respecting everyone's opinion, as usual and no matter of.

I happened to be at Mastro Livi workshop when you posted your message so I could express your gratitude to him in that very moment. He said he is very happy you appreciated the straight razor he made for you and according to your specifications and expectations, wishing you to always enjoy it at every single shave. He is also sending you his wishes for a happy new year and he hopes to personally meet you in his workshop in case you are planning to visit Italy.

I am sure you gentlemen remember about this blade. I posted this picture last November 29th, 2014. It is made from a San Mai Damascus, of which the middle layer is made of Mastro Livi Carbon Damascus steel, whereas the two outer layers are made of stainless steel, the same steel used for Grifetto.

Yesterday, after two weeks since the last time I went there, I was at Mastro Livi workshop and I was absolutely speechless and breathless to see that blade had now scales mounted in and - oh man - what scales! Here it is:

Mastro Livi mounted those mother of pearl scales on the blade and, wow, what a beauty it is! I have to tell you all, I did not buy this razor but I wish I could. So, it is not mine.
As far as I can tell, Mastro Livi wants to keep this razor for him because it is the first straight razor he made from such a stunning san mai, in which he was successful in combining stainless steel to carbon damascus steel.
Mastro Livi, as it is commonly known, spends a lot of time in experimenting with many steels and specific techniques and, yesterday, I could see at least ten different billets he made in the past weeks, all made by combining different stainless steels together, as well as stainless steels and carbon steel together. Most of them are Damascus steel. I am sure we are going to see extraordinary things in the near future!
    Mastro Livi rocks!

I think people who like to shave with this instrument should try at least once in your life a razor built by Mastro Livi. Only after can to know how to say it's nice shave!

This is the razor I took with me this time, in my usual job travel. This is the latest Mastro Livi straight razor I added to my collection and I am very happy with it. This time, and after a very long time I did not do that, I wanted to use the alum block in my post shave routine. I don't know why, but I stopped using alum block some time ago and, this morning, when I saw it in my traveling shaving bag, I thought it was nice to use it again. And I remembered how I liked it, still not figuring out why I stopped using it. Sometimes it is very good to go back to the good and old habits!
