Friday
Prep: Hot shower
Brush: EJ Best Badger
Soap: TSD Mojito
Strop: Tony Miller Heirloom tri-strop
Razor: E. A. Berg - Berg's Special / Shark
AS: Geo. F. Trumper - Lime skin food
The Berg is the smallest and least expensive razor in my rotation.
It is also a great shaver and easy to get and keep shaving sharp.
BBS with out any problems.

Thanked: 137I've been away from here for a few weeks, having moved to temporary accomodation and not having an internet connection. While I've got the computer running and connected, I thought I'd fill y'all in on the last week and a bit of DE shaving (I'm loving my new EJ 89, and until I can get my straights back closer to the way they came to me off the hones I'll be using a DE for speed, closeness, and comfort).
Shave #2:
Soap: Tabac
Brush: Tweezerman Silvertip
Razor: EJ 89 with Derby blade (2nd shave on blade)
AS: GFT Limes Skin Food
Shave Quality: BAD. Had a lot of razor burn and weepers, which I put down to the blade, since lather etc were fine, and angles and pressure were identical to my first DE shave, which was smooth and comfortable. Even an application of GFT Skin Food couldn't completely remove the burn - am not going to try and get more than one shave per side out of a Derby blade again any time soon.
Shave #3
Cream: Pre de Provence SC
Brush: Semogue 2015
Razor: EJ 89 with Astra blade (new blade)
AS: Nivea Replenishing AS Balm
Shave: Good-ish. I'm still having to use a heap of this cream to get an even half-decent lather, and I'm thinking I may have to write it off as an expensive failure. The shave itself was good, but a little irritation from the poor lather. Used only one side of the blade in order to see how many comfortable shaves I can get from a blade.
Shave #4
Soap: TGQ Autumn Spice
Brush: Semogue 2015
Razor: EJ 89 with Astra Blade (2nd use on same side)
AS: none
Shave: Excellent. Great shave, especially since that side of the blade had done a whole shave already. I'm still finding the TGQ soaps horrible to get a good lather from (any water seems to make the lather vanish, while less water results in a sticky fast-drying goop), instead having to smear on a paste-like lather that dries fairly quickly. The lather dried, but still retained a little slick, and the shave itself was still excellent. No irritation or weepers, and the TGQ soaps are moisturising enough that I didn't need any AS.
