It said (if you have a tender skin) to first wet the face with hot water and lather up with your brush. Now rinse off the lather you just applied and apply some good bay-rum. (I used Dominica bay-rum).

When done let it soak for a short while then take your brush and re-lather. Make sure to nicely massage the lather on your face. Even use your fingers if needed. Now continue and finish your regular shaving routine.
