Wow. What a great shave. The Speick shave stick and AS are phenomenal and the Wesley & Scott balm is top-notch (Thanks John Crissman, the enabler )

Prep>>Hot Shower + Proraso preshave cream.
Razor>>Boker Edelweisse 5/8 round point. Stropped in dual fabric SRD red latigo 35/35 and 20 laps in leather before going to the razor garage.

Brush>>Vulfix pure badger 22mm knot.

Result: A classic. I was in a hurry but came out great. Focused on angles and pressure and stepped up a notch or two. This razor always does that for me, shows me how to improve my technique. The soap also exploded with this brush, and has a smell I can't put my finger on.

Not really a shave, but I might as well post it up - here's my test of my new brush - I whipped up some lather, then wanted to see if it was as good as it looked, so had a quick pass with my DE.

Prep: None, not even a shower or warm cloth on my face
Soap: TGQ Sample #6
Brush: My brand-spanking-new Body Shop Synthetic brush - I find the handle awkward for my hand (it feels too big and clumsy when whipping) but it made the best lather I've got from a TQG soap ever compared to any of my previous (badger) brushes.
Razor: EJ 89 De w Astra blade (three shaves on the blade so far)
AS: Quick dab of Nivea Replenishing ASB on one area with a little irritation

Verdict: I now see why people like TGQ soaps - previously the lathers I've made with them have been fiddly and poor, but this stiffer synthetic brush made far better lathers than my Semogue silvertip or Golden Nib silvertip brushes, and leaves my Tweezerman (when it had its original knot) in the dust. This lather provided enough slick that my face feels absolutely fine, despite the lack of prep and slightly dull blade - with one of my previous TQG lathers it would be on fire right now. It's not a perfectly smooth shave (only did one pass, and couldn't go ATG in places due to tugging) but it's acceptable. Keep an eye for my next SOTD where I'll provide pictures of my new acquisitions from today.

I see you are going the way of the samurai. That is a mean looking point in that razor, as to the shaving technique I hear is different as compared to our razors.
