When we went to our countryside place I forgot a strop , but I bought some really cheap belts (less than 3 usd together on a flee market), one leather and one cotton and they actually work very well. Shave was very close on the face and an ok head shave, the lather could have gone to another pass, I did 2 1/2 on the face and two on the head

Just a tip: Stropping on belts is risky stuff, you never know what might be in them that will destroy your razor... Glad it worked out for you though... Next time you're in a pinch without a strop, use the inside of your forearm if it isn't too hairy. Give it a go, it actually works quite well.

    Cheers,
    Jeremy

Thanks Robert! Yes, it was a Crowley purchase. Ordered both this one and my 6/8 Wacker from him. It's actually a Spanish point but it's very similar to a spike. I actually do have a spike point Friodur as well. Shaves are great from both of them!

That's interesting Mark...I thought that the 7/8 Friodurs were all spikes, not spanish points...the only ones I thought came in spanish were the 8/8s!! Was I wrong?...I have a 7/8 just like yours but mine is spike, not spanish...I love it. It shaves great

    Blade: Case Red-Imp Wedge #132 (Solingen) 5/8
Brush: "John Bull" (Rooney Style 1 Size 1) in Super Badger
    Suds: CF Lime
    Scent: Floris Summer Limes

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

    Mark,
Here's a picture of the 8/8 and 7/8 that John had sent me when I was deciding between the two (bottom one is the 7/8-ish). The 8/8-ish looks like a Monster of a blade (even though you measured it to be closer to 7/8 or 15/16)

Hmmm.. Interesting! I'll remeasure it just to see if I could have looked at it wrong. I do know it feels nowhere near as big as the 8/8 Revisor I used to have.
