The usual Proraso soap/balm combo and my Case & Sons. Great shave

I was the same way. The round point is comfortable, but the spike takes care of business all the time. With that said i will never stick with one style blade.

Result: This morning, I decided to add a new regimen to my routine - lemon juice. It worked wonders. Aside from its many beneficial qualities, the acidity helped smooth the skin and soften the beard further. Then came the lather workup phase with the Thäter...boy, what a treat! Pure, unadulterated luxury. I loved the feel of these bristles on my face. Then came the "Pièce de la résistance" - the Fili DT 14. The singing of this blade on the strop (on Premium IV Bridle) was enough to tell me that this beast meant business. And, what a shave ...smoooooth as butter. I would say this razor is equivalent to an earthquake for beards - when it came, whiskers fell! Plain and simple.

Razor: 6/8 Abraham George, Sheffield, Full Hollow, Spike Point, in Translucent Ox Horn (Thanks Glen!)
Pre-Shave Prep: 3 Minute hot towel soak
Pre-Shave Cream: Proraso Crema Pre Barba
Shave Cream: Acqua di Parma SC (Thanks Curtiss!)
    Lather Bowl: Ceramic
    Scuttle: RAB Ceramic
    Brush: Col Conk Barbershop Badger
    ASB: Nivea Replenishing
    Aftershave: Adidas Dynamic Pulse

    Results: Heavenly!

Received the Abraham George from Glen (gssixgun) yesterday as well as a sample of the Acqua di Parma SC from Curtiss (Scissors). The beauty of this rescale work cannot be captured in pictures. The streaks of color of the Ox Horn grain running through the scales is awesome. The scales were polished to a luxurious gloss and the design and workmanship is suburb! Glen you are an artist! (He doesn't like it when I say that but, it's true!) LOL
Special thanks to Curtiss for the Acqua di Parma SC sample. This is an outstanding SC. I put a small almond sized dollop into the lather bowl, (noticed it was very thick and solid) when I started to lather it, the small chunk didn't melt away very fast which is a good thing because, it built lather like you wouldn't believe. The small chunk was only half dissolved so I took the remainder out of the bowl and put it back into the jar. By that time I had more lather than I knew what to do with! (More than enough for a three pass shave.) The cushion was outstanding and the glide was superb as well. The Abe Geo was honed to a scary sharp edge by Glen on his Japanese Nakayama Midori Nashiji stone and the outstanding cushion that the ADP SC provided was a welcome comfort! This shaving experience was an absolute pleasure and I almost feel guilty for not going out on the town or something instead of going out into the carport and replacing my DW's car battery. (Not on par with the ultimate shaving experience!) LOL

    Thank you Rene,
Depends on the day and the condition of my beard (e.g., >1 day or <1 day growth). but, in general, I prefer (by only a very, very slight margin) the #13...it's a bit more maneuverable around my face. The 14, which is fantastic, has more flex. I have 2x #14s and 1x #13.

Thanks! Glen always does outstanding work. Ox Horn has a lot of subtle grains of color that can't be seen with the flash of a camera but in natural light these colors are really beautiful!

Result: This morning, I had a surprisingly better shave with my Frederick Reynolds than I am used to. For me, this beast usually performs at its best when used on whiskers that are 2 days old or so, but today...well, what can I say? I was pleasantly surprised. Very smooth shave. For all I know, it could have been my prep . And CarrieM's creme...Top notch!! Delivers moist, consistent lather on demand .
    Hi,

How do you like the Vulfix? Is it good enough loading the soap?

    Cheers,
    /cj
