    Default SOTD 10-14-10

    Prep: Hot shower
Strop: SRD Premium IV, English Bridle 25 webbing/ 50 leather
    Scuttle: SRD
    Cream: CarrieM's "First Frost"
Brush: TGN Premium Silvertip in handle I turned in Cherry
Razor: Kobar "Souvenir of Weisbaden" 5/8 in custom Birdseye maple scales
    After Shave: C.O. Bigelow "Mentha"
Result: This is the 4th of the 5 razors in a set I restored recently. The lather with CarrieM's cream was amazing and full of wonderful menthol. The shave was very comfortable and smooth. Have a great day gentlemen, you deserve it!

I forgot the pic the first time I posted this, so I deleted the post, and am now reposting. Sorry gentlemen!

The wife and I had a wonderful time last night meeting up with Robert (BladeRunner001) for dinner while he was in town for business. It was a great time getting to know a friend from the board. Thank you, Robert!

The shave today was almost as great! Stropping the restored W&B is always a treat. The heft of the blade matches perfectly with the substantial wooden scales Mainaman put on it for me. The Bomb filled the bathroom with a wonderful scent and created a cushioned, slick dream of a lather. I was left with a nice smooth BBS face!

    Have a great day, gentlemen!

Post Week of October 10 SOTD - Thursday

    DC Shave #2

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Razor: Gillette Fusion
    Brush: 22mm Vulfix Super Badger
Überlather: Al Raz' "Potomac" Shave Creme (sample from Bill)
After Shave/Moisturizer: Nivea Extra Soothing Balm (sensitive skin)
Result: Today was my second and last shave in DC...met up with Bill and his wife last night. Had a great time (good company, good conversations and great dinner. The beautiful bowl I used for my lather today was a gift from Bill and wife (thank you ). The lather was using Al Raz' Potomac creme (also from Bill). I will better portray this bowl in a more fitting composition and SOTD soon enough. Today, I just wanted to show it off . Lather smelled great and über-licious, prep was simple yet fabulous...the shave? Not as satisfying a shave as I would have liked...Despite a BBS smooth shave with the blade, I think my skin had an underlying raw feel to it, no doubt from from yesterday's shave with the Fusion. So, I settled with an OK shave. Can't wait to get home today and put this razor to rest and pick up a more appropriate hardware that is more fitting for this bowl and creme.

Again, sorry about the cell-phone quality picture...as Tom put it: "it's a Fusion and as such, deserve nothing more than just a cell-phone quality picture".

Have a great Wednesday gentlemen .

    Thumbs up

The pleasure was all mine my friend. It was great meeting you and your wife and it should be me thanking you for the gorgeous bowl (which I did use today btw).

I am sitting at DCA waiting and praying that the rain won't cause delays ir cancellations

Looking at all these wonderful blades and great sgaves certainly makes me jealous and eager to get back home at back on track. 2 days with the Fusion was long enogh torture

    Great SOTDs gentlemen

Au contraire, mon frere! We both thoroughly enjoyed the company and were very humbled by your generosity. I consider myself lucky to have made such a friend!

Have a safe flight and we look forward to seeing you again (but you must bring Ella with you next time). In the meantime, enjoy the lather bowl and the Potomac!
