With all the photo's of hand guns I felt compelled to show off my first revolver. My father purchased it for me when I was about to enter the police academy. Here in NJ, you have to be 21 to buy a new gun so the PD issued two permits, one for him to buy it from the store and the second for me to buy it from my dad. He presented it to me after pinning on my badge at the swearing in ceremony. ( I turned 21 in the PA)
She is a Blue steel Smith and Wesson Model 19, .357 Cal. Combat Magnum. She was purchased in August of 1982 and used every work day until February 1992 when I left the patrol division. I tried a 686 for a short time but did not care for it. If you notice the blue is worn off her barrel and part of the cylinder. This is because I was required to use a clam-shell type holster which was caused the wear on the contact points when removed from the holster, the 80's were that busy where I worked. I felt she had done her time and now is retired and well cared for. She has not been fired since 2/1992 and only fired once in anger. I really should place her in a presentation cabinet with some other stuff I have from the old job.
I am not a gun buff but this one means a lot to me. That is all I have to say about guns.
