Result: This is the 5th of the 5 razors in a set I restored recently. I was off work today so I got my morning shave in when I put my daughter down for her morning nap. I think I had too much coffee or something because I was very jittery. I have been learning to scythe and with the added "jittery-ness" of the caffeine, I gave myself a nice slice. The kind that is not too deep, but weeps blood for a few minutes. I hit it with the styptic, completed a 2 pass, less than stellar shave, & put on some Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment. I think I was in a hurry to get ready before my daughter woke up...what's the rule...oh yeah, pay attention or pay in blood

Today I took the family on a road trip to Missouri's wine country. We took in the fall foliage, enjoyed some German cuisine, and a little white wine. I brought my razor along for the SOTD pic (hence the late posting today). This pic was taken at Stone Hill Winery in Hermann, MO.

Keep the great SOTD's coming, this has been a stellar week!
Been to Hermann, Missouri many times. Used to live in Wentzville, St. Peters and Darden Mo. Love Hermann's Mayfest!

Wow, small world. We're in Ofallon. I make the trip to Hermann a couple times of year, but I especially like the drive in the fall. I prefer to take hwy 94, but this year we took 70 out past Truxton and took exit 175. It is faster and that was a good thing since my daughter (21 months) was along for the ride. She had a blast @ stone hill walking around and seeing all the decorations. Drop me a note if you are ever back in the area to visit.

    Thanks

    Glenn

Yavol Glenn. But sorry about the mishap...I guess coffee and sharp objects don't mix well, heh?

I am not very familiar with Mo Wine Country...How are the wines?

    Robert,

We have some surprisingly good wine in MO, if you like white wine. I'm not saying that a decent red isn't produced, just not as good as the white IMHO (most of the reds produced are very sweet). The wine region in MO has a very strong German heritage so wine similar to Rieslings are very good. The area also produces a very nice Chardonel as well as a nice Golden Spumante. It depends on the vineyard that you go to (my favorite is Stone Hill). Merlot, Cabernet, & Chardonnay are produced by some vineyards here, but they pale in comparison as those grapes don't do as well in our region.

    Cheers!

It was tonight but it looks like it'll be a recurring gig. Stay tuned for details.

Like nothing else. It's a very "just you and the road" kind of razor. Hard steel, smooth like crazy, strops easy, handles effortlessly, sharp as any edge I've ever tried.
