    Default Friday Morning Shave!

Frank Shaving Silvertip | Institut Karite Soap | Hart Steel | Razorock Alum | Institut Karite Aftershave

The maiden voyage of the very, very inexpensive "Frank Shaving" brush. I've only used it one time, but I would be satisfied had this brush cost me three times as much.

I'm also starting to form some strange bond with the Institut Karite products. I find myself using the aftershave everyday and the soap preforms very well with a little work.

    Default SOTD10152010

    Prep: Hot shower
Strop: SRD Premium IV, English Bridle 25 webbing/ 50 leather
    Scuttle: SRD
    Soad: Mama Bears "Fall Leaves"
Brush: TGN Premium Silvertip in handle I turned in Cherry
Razor: Kobar "Souvenir of Bremerhaven" 5/8 in custom Birdseye maple scales
After Shave: C.O. Bigelow "Mentha" & Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment
Result: This is the 5th of the 5 razors in a set I restored recently. I was off work today so I got my morning shave in when I put my daughter down for her morning nap. I think I had too much coffee or something because I was very jittery. I have been learning to scythe and with the added "jittery-ness" of the caffeine, I gave myself a nice slice. The kind that is not too deep, but weeps blood for a few minutes. I hit it with the styptic, completed a 2 pass, less than stellar shave, & put on some Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment. I think I was in a hurry to get ready before my daughter woke up...what's the rule...oh yeah, pay attention or pay in blood

Today I took the family on a road trip to Missouri's wine country. We took in the fall foliage, enjoyed some German cuisine, and a little white wine. I brought my razor along for the SOTD pic (hence the late posting today). This pic was taken at Stone Hill Winery in Hermann, MO.

Keep the great SOTD's coming, this has been a stellar week!

Got my NOS Kikuboshi and immediately took her to the stones. A few laps on the 8k followed by about 30 turns on the nakayama kiita with a light meijiro nagura slurry then about 20 more turns on the nakayama with water only. Th edge was super smooth and left me BBS+

Great week of shaves, gentlemen! Thank you for sharing and for letting me share...
Congrats on the new blade! It looks very nice, enjoy.

Thank you Sharp. Yes it helped. Still not sure how to handle my son though.
