Thanked: 0amazing shave this morning
Just had a great start to the day! Even with being rushed this morning I got an amazing shave from my Gillette Fatboy. NO irritation after two passes on my neck and a good portion of my neck is BBS. I'd normally have some irritation after WTG and ATG on my neck.
Fatboy set to 6, same cheap Personna blades I always use (and not even a new blade...been used for at least half a dozen shaves), shaved after shower with Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood using a cheap Van Der Hagen Boar Bristle brush. If shaving was always that enjoyable it would be great... hopefully even though I'm not sure what I did differently (correctly) I can repeat next time

Sudan SOTD November 9th
Razor: Gillette Fusion
Shave Cream: Neutrogena Skin Clearing Shave Cream
Location: Mango Camp, Southern Sudan, Africa
Results: Exotic location for a horrible shave!
OK guys, I know some of you may be outraged by the Gillette Fusion, but I just couldn't risk taking one of my straights into Sudan.
Internet access was sporadic at best in Sudan so I couldn't post this pic until today.
This is the first time that I've shaved with a safety since starting with straights in May. The BEST shave I accomplished with the Fusion this past week in Africa wasn't even close to one of my WORSE straight razor shaves (and this is coming from a relative nub)

Week of November 14 SOTD - Wednesday
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Razor: 6/8" C.V Heljestrand "Royal Kindal", Hollow, Round-ish Point Brush: 22mm Vulfix Super Badger Überlather: CarrieM's Bourbon Vanilla Shave Creme + Mama Bear's Trade Winds Shave Soap + Glycerin Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol) Post-Shave: Trumper's Skin Food Lime Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer After Shave: Tabac AS Lotion Cologne: Penhaligon's Quercus Result: Today, I wanted to start paying attention to some hardware/software that were a bit ignored as of late: Mama Bear Soap was one and The "Kindal" was another. They both delivered a "Royal" kind of shave (nothing to do with the engagement in the Royal court that we are bombarded with in the news for the past few days). Brought out the Trade Winds for a spin and it was wonderful. I refreshed the edge on the Kindal on the Escher last night and took her out for a spin. Wonderful shave and super smooth. Time to go to work (from home today...just because I feel like it )

Thank you for stating that. Its been a year now and have never even once gone back. I was starting to wonder if the closeness of the shave was just in my mind. Compairing to Disposable. I dont even want to try one shave with one if i can avoid it. That would mean a shave without a straight. I dont travel much.

Gentlemen, do not crucify me for this, but the last time I shaved with my Fusion was two months ago when I was in Peru on vacation. I got a very close, comfortable shave. I always remember getting close shaves with my Fusion, but I just enjoy shaving with a straight and a DE more. I didn't switch because I was getting terrible shaves, but because shaving with a straight is just plain cool!
Okay, I am now strung up and ready for my punishment.
