Thanks, Robert. It is a great blade! I'm still not sold on the HBE soap. Ubering it has been the only way for me to make it work well... In an uber, though, it's a very nice scent!

Thank you, Glenn, I enjoyed your photo today as well. My honing journey is coming along. I still don't know if I'm doing things right or simply getting lucky, but the edge felt very smooth on my face today!

It was one year ago yesterday I lost a good friend and neighbor at my adopted home in Indian Lake, N.Y.. He and his wife taught me alot about the mountains, accepting people for what they are and life in general.. kind of like the big brother I never had. It's times like this that cause me to reflect on my own mortality, and the inevitable conclusion that faces us all.
I don't know if I'll get into heaven or not... That question is still up in the air. I guess I'll find out when I get to the Pearly Gates whether they're open to me or not. But, if by some circumstance I do make it, I'm sure all the angels will have the face and voice of Lisa Kelly... That's my dream anyway. I have alot of old friends, both human and canine that I need to catch up with...

    Happy Thanksgiving to all...
Thanks for your honesty and kind heart Bill. I find autumn in general to be a time of "remembering". I often times find myself longing for days past and for those who have gone out of my life. I find putting pen to paper often helps me "get it all out". Here is an example:

    Whispering Season
Night time shines, moonlight glitters, Trees Whispering Secrets Unknown
Soft collections of choked emotion Concealed in the folds of its robes
Who is thy benefactor O night? From whom did you steal the light?
Taking the one thing you could never have shone
Coldly you muster all of your strength As you shake what should not be disturbed
Tattered and tawdry Rusted and gaudy
Trees are ripped naked of their clothes
Fall, your companion has given you dominion To take back the time you once gave
Silent compassion, remembered reflection Spring had once robbed night with day
The score is settled Night has been ridden of any light that once shone in its eyes
No flowers to grow Only moonbeams and snow
Desolation and wonder Taking mankind hostage within.

Take care my friend, you have many great shaves to come

    Default Wednesday

Prep: Hot shower--followed by Proraso pre-post-shave cream
    Brush:
    Simpsons Chubby 2 “Super Badger”
    SC:
    Alraz’s Bomb “Cedar”
    Strop:
VB Red Latigo--50 fabric; 60 leather
    Razor:
    5/8 Heljestrand “Eskiltuna”
    Astringent:
Thayer’s Original Witch Hazel w/ Aloe Vera
    ASB:
    Zirh “Soothe
    AS:
    Dominica “Bay Rum”
    Result:
    BBS…

Yet another nifty shaver in my collection that had taken a back seat to my my other razors. I hadn't used Al's Bomb in awhile either, which provided a wonderful cushion and lubrication. Neither disappointed. The Eskiltuna delivered a close comfortable shave without any nicks or cuts and Al's Bomb provided the essential cushion and lubrication for a BBS shave.

    Brush: 24mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Überlather: Martin De Candre Shave Soap + Glycerin
Astringent: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Lavender, no alcohol)
    Post-Shave: NancyBoy Repleniishing AS gel
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-Free Moisturizer
    Cologne: Guerlain Habit Rouge
Result: I got a sample of the "Martin de Candre" shave soap in the mail from Joe (aka, Harvitz81) yesterday. Thank you Joe ...I really, really like the scent of this thing. Absolutely fantastic. Say what you want about the French...but, they know their scents and soaps . Even by itself, the soap produced a lather that was nothing short of excellent. And with this French soap, I instinctively had to use the Thiers-Issard (even though it's a Sheffield steel). The grind and size of this blade was a heavenly match with this soap. BBS shave for entire face in my usual 3 passes.
