Default Wednesday (soap and brush test day)

    Pre: Hot shower
Brush: Custom New Forest in two band with slightly higher loft than a regular 2201
    Razor: Heljestrand B K 42
    Soap: Honey Spice by Elain
    AS: Old Spice Fresh Lime
    Strops: Neil Miller
    Result: Very, very clean
This soap is a keeper! Very good lather (worked it in a bowl for 2-3 min), I think it´s a lot of clay in it and it has a really good slippery feeling to it. Dry it smelled of spice and honey and when wet I thought it smelled more of clay + spices and I liked it a lot . Staying power was very good, I was affraid it would dry out (looked a little dry towards the end) but it never did and when whiped up again it was super! This blade is sharp, like REALLY sharp . Brush worked out very nice, but I´m a little worried that my NF custom silvertip brush´ll have a to high loft. Stay toned...

    Bill: Heljes are sweeet!

Today i brought out 2 razors. A c-mon to test, thinking is was ready. NOPE! Then the Queen of hearts. I shaved with this on sunday. BBS but went back to the hones to go more. 2 passes to a great shave but went a third for perfection. Ahh!! The only confusing thing is the feed back from the blade. Just felt different. But the results were awesome!!

Love your post Guys. sorry if i dont respond to everone.

Fily #13 with baby blue scales
    Dovo XL Russian leather strop
    28 mm Thather silvertip brush
    Cella SS
    Thayers' SuperWH
    Proraso Green Balm

First shave with the Fily! Pretty good shave! I think I'll try some passes on my coticule. The razor was finished on a Jnat and I think my face likes the coticule edge better. Great performer though!

I forced myself to really take some time here--much more so than I had been doing. It paid off!

I was planning to put the Heljestrand up for sale, now I'm reconsidering...
FANTASTIC Bill ...That's the secret; bevel setting it right. The rest is easy.

Glad you not going to sell the Helje...They are amazing shavers

Once the bevels were set nice and even on both sides and along the length, tested to see if they would cut arm hair and leg hair. Both did so smoothly and effortlessly. I then proceeded to do a progression through my JNats using slurry raised with a meijiro followed by nakyama honzan slurry then water. The only deviation was an ozuku honzan slurry on the ozuku. Both were finished off by 75 laps on the ozuku with plain water.
