Post Week of November 28 SOTD - Wednesday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Razor/Blade: Vintage Deluxe HD/Feather ss
    Brush: 22mm Vulfix Super Badger
Überlather: Al Raz Custom Shaving Creme
Astringent: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-Free Moisturizer
    Cologne: Creed Original Santal
Result: Today is a bit more relaxing...grant was out the door and I feel like a simple shave with the DE. it has been awhile and I do miss my DE. So, Al's creme provided the lubricating lather and the Feather blades gave the DE the teeth to cut the tired whiskers of yesterday, making way for a refreshed and rejuvenated skin. What a feeling. 3 simple passes and BS all the way through. Finishing touches were with Trumper's moisturizer and Creed cologne, which I received yesterday (4 in total...on sale at Beauty Encounter). With my wife's advice, opted for the Original Santal (mostly wife's advice), which really opens up with its Top Notes of Royal Indian sandalwood, cinnamon (evoking calm and home), divine coriander, and fragrant & cleansing juniper berry. Then come the subtle hints of the Middle Notes, comprised of tender lavender, leaves of the absolute orange tree, fragrant rosemary, and revitalizing ginger. Later during the day, this heavenly complex scent should flourish and reveal its Base Notes with soulful Tonka bean, and dreamlike vanilla. What a shave to begin this Wednesday. I am loving it.

Keep up the great work and the brotherhood, everyone!

I see the Gecko on TV all the time, Mikael!

We don't have them here, but watching a red eft slowly work it's way along the forest floor is a favorite pastime when I'm in the woods!

Whatever he is... I enjoy him!

Aura Glow as a Pre Shave Oil
    Gibbs marinha frescura Shave Cream
    New Forest #2211 Finest Silvertip
    Bowdin's Wedge 9/16ths
Tony Miller Artisan Strop 25 Linen/ 50 Latigo
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea AS Balm Sensitive
    Pinaud's Lilac Vegetal

I've been going back and forth with this little wedge blade all week, trying to achieve Coticule success with it. I've finally done it, and as the Beatles sing... "I get by with a little help from my friends..."
So I now know the least of what the coticule is capable of, and I'm very pleased. I'll still need to keep my nose to the grindstone, as there's still much to be learned, but right now I'm happy, and looking for continued improvement. But I must say that today's shave was as good as any..
The Gibbs cream is one of my favorites... Stropping on Latigo is not, but TM's linen component is nice.
The Veg always provides a nice finish to what was today, a superb shave!

    Welcome, Eric!

I may not be as gregarious as the other fellas' , but I'm just as welcoming... Without actually saying it, of course!

Result: BBS, and what a stunning blade. Huge amounts of Swedish steel patiently honed on Japanese stones, slicing through German lather and my American Mutt stubble, accompanied by a Los Angeles DJ spinning classic Brazilian pop and bossa hits. Welcome to the future, where all points coincide. Whoa.
