Best of luck in the proceedings. Not easy to stomach.

Since the server was not fully functional last evening I did not post my shave, here goes.

    Hot Shower
    Warm oil
    Hannah Cermic Bowl
    Custom Badger
Gillette 1959 Fat Boy, Wilkinson Blade
    AOS Aluminum
    Pinaud Bay Rum
    Vaseline for Men.

Nice comfortable shave. Three passes makes it nice, but it is not a str8 shave. The closeness is there, just not like a Str8.

    Enjoy.

    Here come the SNOW....Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

What a lovely brush!! A bit of a lather hog, but it´ll get better. Excellent blade, I´m so happy to have it.
    Mikael,
Simply beautiful. Great brush this Chubby...#3 is a big one. Enjoy. The do tend to hog, but small price to pay for luxury

    Monroe,
Many have posted about this. I think there are server issues which I am sure will get resolved soon. Hang in there

I have my fingers crossed for you Rene and great choice of gear for today. May the force be with you and may you soon find a real life red head to share your "greatness" with and who will appreciate you for who you are.

    Arild,
Wowww...that sounds like an amazing shave. Congrats.

    (1) That piano concerto is absolutely a fine piece and an very difficult one to play
    (2) Very nice choice of blade and Bob is an absolute gentleman
    (3) Huuuhhhh? What picture...but reading on I realized you will post pict later...so, can't wait to see your W&B (and those 2 guys)
    (4) Be weary of using baby oil on face or skin in general. This thing is nothing like the polar fatty acids used in cremes and soaps to soften beard. MO does lubricate very well, but due to its hydrophobic nature (i.e., fat loving), it will lodge itself between cells and bury itself in the lipid (fat) layers and will be hard to remove. This will cause your skin cells and pores to clog and not "breathe" and result in build up of dead cells and toxins. I recommend using better and wholesome ingredients as pre-shave...such as T&H Pre shave oil or better and much cheaper alternatives like Almond, Jojoba or other oils...they really work nice and they are great for the skin.

Just my 2 cents and I hope you don't mind the advice

    Jeff,
Right on...Nothing beats a straight shave. I like my DEs, and I have decided to take them on when I travel, but straights are my go to gear when it comes to ultra close, comfortable shaves.

PS: Be safe in the snow

Robert, thank you very much for your advice concerning the baby oil for preshave. I will not use it again. Tried to upload the picture, but the uploading of pictures is still not working. Will try again later!

And to all posters in this thread, thank you for brilliant pictures and stories, it is always a pleasure to enter this thread

    Default Last Night

Preshave: Hot Shower followed by TSD pre-shave balm
    Brush: Tweezerman
Faux UberLather: Caswell Massey sandalwood with 5 drops glycerin
    Scuttle: rbecker "Large"
Razor: Filarmonica #10 3/8ths round point
Strop: Illinois 206-30 canvas 60 leather
Postshave: Escential lotions and oils moisturizing aftershave lotion (unscented)

The end result was one of my smoothest thus far only problem being that the Caswell Massey failed horribly when it came to lubricating during the shave so I'm still a tad bit sore on some areas of my face. I've got one last idea to try with the C.M. and some additives but if that doesn't work it'll just have to become my new shower facial wash (even though it's not working as a shave soap/cream doesn't mean I want to throw money down the drain).

Great posts guys keep 'em coming

    Michael

Post Week of January 9 SOTD - Tuesday

    A "Golden Globe" Worthy Shave

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 22mm New Forest Silvertip Badger
Razor: 6/8" Thiers-Issard "Eagle", Full Hollow, Spanish Point
Strop: 50/65 (Neil Miller linen/Premium IV leather)
    Soap/Überlather: L'Occitane "Cade" Shave Creme + L'Occitane "Cade" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
    After Shave Balm: L'Occitane "Cade"
    Cologne: L'Occitane Vetyver
Results: Excellent shave this AM . The TI was a great choice to get this day off to a fabulous start. And the Cade lather provided a superb cushion onto which this entire saga played itself out. FLAWLESS !!! All the way through. Well, did you expect anything less ? This shave is definitely worthy of a few "Golden Globe" nominations.

File upload didn't work (as some have also experienced) so Flickr link to the rescue

    Have a AWESOME Tuesday guys.
