And I just noticed Sfcablecar to be a year older today too!
Happy birthday!

Geneva Cutlery 5/8
New Forest 2201
Coates Sandalwood sc
Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
Anherb a/s balm
GFT Spanish Leather Edt
A lazy Sunday morning with the temperatures finally above freezing and pitchers and catchers reporting to Spring Training tomorrow. A DFS with the Geneva and the Coates which always performs...had enough for the head shave as well. Finished with the Anherb and Trumper's Spanish Leather which also always works for me. And today will be better than yesterday.

Blade began to show it's age after mowing down a week's worth of dome stubble. While it made it through 3 passes on the dome and 3 passes on the face, and gave a passable to pretty darned good shave, I doubt I'd care to use this blade for another shave. Happy to be moving back to straights tomorrow. Eighteen of my next twenty one shaves will be straight razors. I'm ready. My safety razor shaves this week have been good but I've missed the straight razor shaves. The older I get, the better I was

Lovely!
The Klaas performed adequately after the latest honing however, this razor has never rang my bell if you know what I mean. I think this is about as good as this one can get. (at least with my meager honing skills) The other razors that I have honed in the past have responded with some very keen edges and seem smooth and close, the Klaas however, never gets as close and the shave is harsh and not smooth and silky like the others. I guess there are Chevy's and Cadillacs in the razor world and this is definitely a Chevy. (It gets you there but, just barely and you're not all that proud of it.)

I went back to trying to hone. The ones i work on are from ebay or antique store so the edges are usually rough. Which leads to getting discouraged. This one had a few tiny nicks in the blade. I tried before but could not get the bevel set. Norton 1k,4k 8k, then to chinese 12k. Wow this was the best shave i have ever had from something i have honed. This razor performed with the best. 2 passes were near perfect 3rd was more of a touch up.
