Post Week of June 12 SOTD - Saturday

Pre-Shave: Long Hot shower + MWF Bath Soap + Chagrin Valley Shampoo Bar (Olive & Babassu)
Brush: 26mm Simpson "Chubby 2", 2-band Silvertip Badger
Razor: 7/8" Wacker, Full Hollow Ground w/ laser etched spine, French Point (Blond Horn scales)
Strop: 40/60 laps (Torolf linen / SRD Premium IV leather)
Überlather: Floris "JF" Shave Creme + Floris "JF" Shave soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber AS
    Cologne: Penhaligon's "Endymion" EdT
Results: This whole thing started with a great night's sleep, followed by a nice long hot shower with the MWF bath soap (my wife is slowly growing fond of this thing and now finds the scent quite pleasant). We also tried a new shampoo bar. The Chagrin Valley is an excellent line up of good old shampoo with nothing but good stuff. I highly recommend it (and the JR Liggett). This set the stage for the shave of today, which I can only describe as blissful & relaxing . I have to yet to shave with a Wacker that I didn't like. This one is no exception. The Floris über was nothing short of fantastic. I am ready for a good (but long) day ahead.

Gentlemen: Have a WONDERFUL & RELAXING Saturday .

I think this is what I get for going on a run before I decided to shower and shave! Endorphins are a big no go in terms of being relaxed enough to maneuver a piece of sharp steel, I'd think.
Sorry to hear about the slice you gave yourself. It happens...Don't sweat it and more importantly, don't let it discourage or scare you. I, for one, love exercising before a good shower and shave. It really gets your skin prepped and ready (with pores fully open, so to speak). I get my best shaves that way. One just has to exercise caution not to let the adrenalin get the better of him, LOL

    Theseus,

GI, Thank You for posting. Perhaps I have a bent or disorder that makes me particularly fond of the 'nothing highbrow'. I'm thinking here of how Bluegill enriched us all with his 'nothing highbrow', yet his posts always portrayed the joy like few others. The joy is the important part.

Dang it, I need to get some music in my bathroom!

Thank You again, Gi. Pls keep posting.

No, Thank You! Like lots of folks that get into the hobby, I don't really have gobs of extra money to throw around. No worries though, I've been at it long enough to have a decent core of low cost stuff that makes for a really good shave.

I don't own any expensive shaving stuff. Its amazing to me that I can pick up great razors for $15 on ebay and get great results while participating in the strong arms of history!
