Ok, guys, 2 parter here. First, today is my birthday, and the wife and son went way overboard for me, encouraging me in my shaving addictions, LOL.

First pic is of all the wonderful shaving related gifts I got this evening, pre-shave.

I recieved (in no particular order):

A new shaving buddy!! I collect aliens, I started with a child size alien that used to ride around with me in my VW Beetle (I restored a 73 SB once upon a time). Then I got a little evil alien the size of a large softball, then I got this little guy today!

Irisch Moos shave cream, TOBS Sandlewood shave cream, Col. Conk Shave Soap and Tabac orginal. (What a Haul!!!!!!) But wait, there's more!!!

Pinaud Clubman original, Minotaur ASB, Lucky Tiger AS and Jock Soap Tall Drink ASB sensitive skin.

Also included was a block of Ali Biyikli Alum (Again, What A Haul!!).

AND... I just got a 2 brush, 2 straight acrylic black razor/brush stand with my initials engraved in it.

Here's the lot (forgive the mutliple images. I gotta show it off!) I am so pumped!

    And the stand:

    So, tonight my shave is:

    Strop: BD 3" 50/100
Honed: Don (jcschilde) to a smooth as butter edge
Razor: W&B 'The Celebrated' Give the Dog a Bone
    Soap: TOBS Sandlewood (OMGosh, amazing)
    Astringent: Tend Skin
    ASB: Paloma Picasso Minotaur
    Cologne: Drakkar Noir

Man, I can't even describe how sweet. The pictures do no justice, but I'm so content.

I didn't do a great job, but man do I smell good!

Enjoy my friends, as I do yours!! All my best, (not the least bit excited! hehehe).

    Mike

    Hey Tim,
The Eucris is a great scent...different than the Spanish Fig/Nutmeg, which I equally love. Give the senses some time to recover. it's a worthwhile wait.

PS: Great Bismarck and shave...I am sure that taking the edge back to the stone will bring her back to life

Hehehe...Thanks Jamie. I look forward to you stepping up to that straight plate.

SPECTACULAR show today Dom...Love that custom and I guess we have a new MdC addict in the midst. Now, we certainly need a 24 step program for that too...and yes, I know, I will be the first one to register for that

It really does feel like a Str8 shave!!! The limes and coconut mix smelled like Key lime pie. Simply fantastic and whip cream like. Great shave and love all the pics. Lots of big blades out there so I'll have to go back for a heavy Thurs!!!
Wonderfully done Paul...especially after that heavy duty day. Can't wait for your tomorrow's show

No razor honing today but I did use my new found skills to restore and sharpen the knife. I bought it about 30 years ago aged 11 partly as an act of rebellion towards my parents who had said I couldn't have one. I was at a friends house and we went into town, I'd saved up the money and although the guy in the shop wasn't too happy about it (he offered to let me phone my parents from the shop) I bought it. When I arrived back at my fiends house his mother saw from our faces that we'd been up to something, found out and made me ring my parents. When I got home my dad had me show him it, said they would trust me to be careful with it and gave it back to, me some rebellion huh! Over the following few years it sharpened many sticks and spend a lot of time being thrown at trees. Leaving the carbon steel blade tarnished rusting and blunt, today it is shining and sharp in a way that it hasn't been for many many years. (BTW My son is 11, I offered to buy him a Swiss Army knife he declined!)
Great story behind the knife Nic...we underestimate parents sometimes. I guess your son knows better, LOOOL

Wow, what a set of great gifts. Nice family you have there.

I have tried none of those shave creams, but am very interested to hear all about each one.
