Michael, I am a bit late to respond but this is wonderful news. I hope your surgery sites feel better quickly. My best wishes for a very speedy recovery.

Just returned from my surprise trip to Colonial Williamsburg (Virginia). The wife surprised me with a 24 hr getaway. We went to Busch Gardens theme park, visited Colonial Williamsburg and the Jamestown settlement (the first lasting British settlement in the US 1607).

Unfortunately I forgot my dop kit that has my shaving brush in it! I had to "lather" with a towel and my fingers...not recommended! Nonetheless I still had a great shave and amazingly no irritation.

Robert, I'm a bit confused. I don't see a Simpson brush in this shave...

Paul, beautiful Fili. I don't know if I just realized it, or forgot to mention before, but I have the best memories of Njimegen. I was there in 1992 for the military marches, and still remember the Dommelsch beer and the beautiful countryside! I've looked for that beer everywhere since then, and never seen it anywhere else. I don't know if it's romanticized in my mind, but I remember Dommelsch being the best beer I've ever had...

As a former resident of "Billysburg" I must say I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the trip. What a great place to lose oneself with your wife!

    Prep:Hot Shower, Coconut & Lime pre-shave oil
    Scuttle:Dirty Bird custom double
Brush:30mm TGN Silvertip Premium A in Red & Black M3
    Strop:SRD PIV English Bridle
    Soap: MDC
    Razor: National Cutlery “Napoleon”
After shave: Ogallala Bayrum & Sandalwood
    EDT: Cartier “Roadster”

Result: A very nice shave with the “Napoleon” this morning. The slant grind to this blade makes it a joy to shave with as it seems to scythe naturally. 2 passes and very smooth. I didn't have time to post it this morning, so here it is. I took the long way home from work today and drove the windy country roads. It was a beautiful drive in which I took stock of all that I am so blessed to have. Amongst the many many blessings is the SOTD and it is so special because of each of you, so “Thanks” to each of you

    Rune,
Well done with the edge on this one. I can honestly say that this Toyo is amongst the top 10 shavers of all time...in my book at least.

Better hurry Amund...These don't come around all that often. I had to wait ~7 mos before finding one NOS

Tell me about it Rum...We've been glued to the internet, reading all that's been going on. Pretty nasty. The globe seems to be in a very fragile emotional state of mind. My wife's sister and family are there as we speak for a few days on their way to Armenia for the kid's games. Hope you're safe brother. At least you got a great shave in and you didn't let the negative news effect that.

A two day growth and a late afternoon shave today so I picked out The Scheon Burg razor which is German steel made in Japan, a devilishly sharp blade.
Another Toyo today? Wowww. you guys are on a roll. Beautiful choice Nathan. The 775 is another one of my favs. Sorry about the Coates running low...Hope you find another soon

Welcome back Tim...a well deserved getaway I am sure. Man, shaving without a brush is just as bad as doing it with a Fusion...But, glad you improvised and it worked out great at the end.

LOOOOL...Just seeing if anyone was paying attention. And you were the ONLY one that caught that. I actually used the M&F, but for some reason I was thinking about the Simpson as I was writing the post.

What a wonderful shave that must have been Glenn. Love that Napoleon. In a world where time is of the essence, it's always nice to stop and smell the roses.
