Wow!! Two very beautiful razors!!!! Bill nice score and I hope your first day is as fantastic as the shave!! Robert that is an awwesoem Livi!!!! I simply am a HUGE fan of Amboyna burl. One of a kind every piece and stunning color! (At least you gave me a break on the Maxterpieces!!!)

Glad to be back and posting. I was using an old Gillette Travel DE with a Mekur Blade while on duty. Name: Gillette Travel DE 001.jpg

Size: 55.3 KB The blade does not seem to suit this razor as the shaves were ok but not great. It might be the razor (or me). I will have to see over time with different blades and keep trying. It's a cute lil thing though.

Great shave today as I honed this prior to leaving for the weekend. At first I thought I needed to do more work on the hone. I thought it was sliding over the whiskers. LOL Nope!! BBS. I wish I knew more about this blade as it is a mystery to me. Any ideas my SOTD brethren???? The MDC and AK is becoming a fave scent of mine. Very earthy and the cologne blends well to it.
Glad to be home and fantastic shaves all.

    Default Monday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Brush: Simpson Chubby 1
    Razor: Filarmonica DT 12 5/8
    Honing Regimen: Naniwa 1K-3K-Shapton 8K-Naniwa 10K-Shapton 30K-0.25µ mono diamond-CBN 0.125µ/balsa.
    Strop: 30/60Neil Miller Linen/Legion Kangaroo
    Soap: Ralph Lauren Safari
    Astrigent: Alum Block
    After shave: D.R. Harris Sandalwood
Results: Got this back from honing today, it's sharp alright, but if it's extremly much sharper than other razors in my rotation I'm not completly convinced. It did give me a very smooth, close and effordlessshave, but also a couple minor nicks.

Need help or tutoring? Check out the  .

I finally honed the T. Noonan & Sons "Napoleon" razor I picked up cheap on ebay. I still haven't gotten proficient at the one stone method with the coticule so I did a pyramid on the Norton 4/8k and used the coticule as a finisher. What a great razor! It's heavy blade sliced right through my stubble and even though I had a tough time getting the Pre de Provence to lather well, I still had a fantastic 2 pass shave
The Pre de Provence never built up a very thick lather. I used more than I would of TOBS or CADE but it still seemed pretty thin. I guess it lubricated my face well enough. I'll try it in an uberlather next.

Rune I've had razors honed by Lynn and a few others here on the SRP and yours were every bit as sharp and shave-ready. You do a fantastic job. Save the $ and buy more razors

I keep hearing good things about Wales and you never know where we'll end up next time Best tea was had near Bath in an old afternoon tea place ... Water from the Bath spring tasted like an old Roman though and much worse than the London water, lo.

Cheers mate We had a wonderful time! I may bitch about the water, but we really had a great holiday.
