Prep: Hot Shower/ proraso pre-post creme
    Brush: AOS Pure Badger
    Soap: Proraso
Razor: Peter J. Michels "Square Deal" 11/16 square point.
Post: Proraso AS, AOS ASB unscented
Result! One of my top 10 all time best shaves. The fun part is this razor was a real bear to hone, but has great steel! Had an issue with microchipping when I tried to set the bevel. Realized I was using too much pressure and it chipped because the steel was so hard. After I backed off and took it thru the stone progression VERY gently, it rewarded me with one of my best razors!

Gave the Feather AS-D1 a run out today after neglecting it lately in favour of the Feather AC-SS, still my number one when it comes to the smoothest shave I could possibly give myself, two pass shave super smooth.

Its been a while since I last used this wedge. My honing has improved a lot since and I wanted to re-hone this one without tape, as I have stopped using tape on all my others.
I blunted the edge on a glass then set to re-establishing the bevel etc. I threw every stone I own at it and it took a while to get an edge I'm happy with and its certainly the best shave I've had with this one, by a long way. Not sure if I really like wedges to be honest, I love the sound and feel of a full hollow, but I guess that may well be down to the level of experience.
    Regards
    Nic

    Cool Wednesday Morning...

So after my day "Off" yesterday spent doing Man stuff. (Urrrh urrh urrh my best Tim Allen voice) I mean come on really, I started with something that actually needed doing OK, I had to get the Tractor out and change the filters and oil, drain the hydraulics refill everything. Then finally switch out the Box Scrapper for the Snow Blower.. Now ya gotta understand that during all this while liquids were slowly draining out I of course am cleaning out the Pole Barn and putting up new shelving that hopefully the wife won't smack with the cars Needless to say, my sore Ole butt needed a hot steaming shower, and a great shave to get motivated to even move today.

Thank god I have to "Work" today so I can get to my office and relax

Lather: Confianca Creme de Barbear O Melhor
Brush: Solid Brass restore with a 20mm Silvertip
    Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery
    Strop: 25/50 SRD Premium 1
    Razor: Kinfolks "Top Notch"
Shave: WTG pass, Clear water touchup pass, and done
Postshave: Bois D' Inde Bay Rum

This is one of those Extreme NY hollow grinds I brag about all the time, it was honed on the Shapton GS system 1-2-4-6-8-16-30 and is so wicked sharp it scares the hair off the face..The shaves are smooth as silk with zero irritation because you are barely touching the skin and the blade has so much flex it hugs the curves.

Have a great Hump Day Gents !!!

What a wonderful setup Michael. BTW: Is the MdC unscented truly unscented or does it have a background scent of sorts? I am looking at getting an unscented soap and honestly forgot that MdC makes an unscented version

    D.,
Sounds like a marvelous shave. What's the idea behind mixing the 2 Derby cremes? Ingredient-wise, they should both be exactly same (except scent).

    Tom,
I don't know buddy...I don't think you bought enough...One iMac and one MBP doesn't do it. Your lack of spending forced Apple to miss it's expectations for the quarter, LOOOOOL. You need to buy more, LOL...But I understand...all your (and Germany's) money goes to bankrupt countries, LOOOL

PS CS5 ain't cheap brother...but worth every penny.

Nice shave Carl, and I like the background, but seriously, 50 of them? framed? Wowwwww!! Would love to see a wide angle shot of what that looks like brother

Beautiful setup and shave Grant. Love the shot too (even though she's 12 months old). I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. Someone needs to figure out how to stop time...maybe those Physicists who reported Neutrinos that travel faster than light (Hmmmm...If we could just hitchhike with one of those)

Excellent shave and razor Joe. Congrats on taming her on the stones. And thank you for the welcome buddy. It's good to be back too.

    BM,
That seems to be an inherent issue with Bay Rums in general. Besides the usual spots on the skin, try putting a little on your under shirt too. That will make the scent last a lot longer. Also, I would give the bottle a very vigorous shake before use. BR oil is insoluble in alcohol and needs to be evenly "emulsified".

    Excellent combo Jeff,
If your day involves keeping the peace with the protestors in NY, be safe brother.

    Nic,
Good job on the honing bro. What stone sets finally did the trick?

PS; Not all wedges are created equal though. They sure feel different

Ouuuch Arild. Sorry to hear. That's probably because your workplace is probably using PC (Piece of Crap), LOOOOL. Congrats on the purchase of an iPad. It's a great piece of hardware...I should probably invest in one. Soon, soon!!

    Glen,
Glad you had a good "Man Day" yesterday and hope your shelves do end up having a long "shelf life" going head to head with the wife, LOOOL. Enjoy a relaxing day at the office

Great razor and shave setup...It must have felt amazing after all those "Man Errands" you did yesterday
