Smart move Jeff. Beautiful shave today and congrats on your 1st complete shave yesterday. What a milestone

It's better to send money to Apple and Adobe than to Greece!
Congrats Tom...CS3 to CS5.5 is a HUGE upgrade. Lots of new features in the new 5.5. I look forward to seeing some nice special effect SOTD with this new hardware/software of yours. Use it well my friend and enjoy

    Birnando,
I bet you say that to all your blades, LOOOOOL. Great choice and +1 on the Spanish steels. Something about them that just translates to a wonderful shave.

wish me luck as I attempt to walk to the store.
LOOOOOOOOOOL. Well, if we don't see you posting for a few days, we'll know you've been lunch for one of beast. Better update your "Last will & Testament" before going to the store. take one of your straights with you, just in case, LOOOOOL. They'll think twice before attempting anything

Great shave though. The Torrey has no problems taking on a very keen and smooth edge...Give her some time

This beauty took a wonderful edge, couldn't be happier really.
    Amund,
I still think it should be illegal to wake up before 8AM, but I amend my original thought and say that it should also be a crime to deliberately wake up that early, LOOOOL.

Beautiful blade...I saw that animal on eBay...What a great score (at a wonderful price too). Congrats. You were lucky I was busy with work, LOOOL

I hear you buddy. Those are good reasons for sure.

I then switched to the hybrid side of a Les Lats which I have and that helped a bit but not greatly. I think the Coti's were a little slow and I probably would have gotten there eventually but I chose to move onto a Dragons Tongue which worked much better, and finished it on my Olive Green hone which might be a Charnley, or might not. Followed that with a Crox strop and it was sweet.
Gotta love these types of experiments. It's so much fun. It's like detective work or better yet, since the stones and steels hold so much secrets that we need to reveal, we can call it "Forensic Honing", ;-)

3 pass shave to bliss. Great whip cream lather. I had not shaved for a few days and the Geneva took care of it with flying colors. All the razors in my rotation got a 12K/16K run followed by a 6 pass CrOx Balsa run. (I have come to determine this is where I like my edges) Nice and sharp with not one hint of sharpness. Over the last few days after getting back I have been deep into the abyss of cleaning firearms, honing knives and razors and generally getting caught up on all things slacking...Nice reward today and great posts everyone!!!
What a great shave Paul. Congrats buddy. I know what you mean about the CrOx...For the longest (and shortest) time, I was shying away from it (even avoiding it), because the edges were too sharp for my tastes...But lately, I changed my technique a bit and the reward has been astonishing. Very very nice and smoooooooth edges. This is definitely how I will be refreshing my edges.

Don't stress buddy...it's the whole fun of it that counts. If you stress, you don't enjoy. I love your SOTDs

Made it to the store and back okay.lol. Don't even think my W&B Celebrated could take down a 200lb mountain lion.Feel a little safer now as last report had it as only a wolf and a monkey on the loose. All of the lions, tigers, bears and other deadly animals had been found and put down. It's a shame that it came down to killing them but the safety of the community was a top priority.

Yes it was a great learning experience, and nice to know that I'm recognising what's working and what's not. IMHO that's a big step on the honing learning curve.

Yes truly unscented, although if you press your nose against it smells a bit like disinfectant!
