I sold off some soaps I haven't been using and acquired more L'Occitan Cade stuff I find myself going more and more to those products when I shave.

Would you describe those scales as steam punk? They're certainly impressive.

    Saturday

Don’t you love getting a new razor? I find because I’m trying to buy a reasonably diverse range of styles it makes it quite interesting shaving with them for the first time, and each time after that, too. It would be rather boring to just have 5/8s, or just 7/8 wedges...

The new razor; a Schulze “Weiner Scaber”, which translates to “Vienna Scraper” and has absolutely nothing to do with the more ‘urban’ use of the term Weiner (and all those who may post ‘funny’ remarks about that particular term are just displaying your childishness) is quite small. I did find that it’s really difficult to use the heel, being so small, but on the ‘up’ side it’s really good for ATG, especially on the neck and jaw area. This is a NOS razor, and it performed well with just a couple of stropping sessions; 30/70 last night and 30/70 pre-shave, though I may give it ten laps on the Shapton 16k. Which begs the whole question about tape or no tape with a NOS factory honed razor.

I find the razor small but easy to use, with nice balance, but I’m only 5’ 8”; 165 pounds; not a big guy; I think it’d be too small for someone nearing six foot with a big frame, but if you’re of a medium to light frame you should try one, apparently the Revisor site has hundreds of them; well worth the price and it came in its new box including the little red and gold tag. Just my personal opinion, of course...

    Razor: Schulze “Weiner Schaber”
    Pre Shave: Proraso
Überlather: Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad/La Toja/Glycerine
    ASB: Witch Hazel
After Shave: Proraso Liquid Cream AS

    Friday

Thomas Turner "Lancet Edge", Simpson 57, Arlington Cream, Alum, Pashana Original AS

Great shave. The more I use this one the better it gets, I'm finding the fact its larger at the toe than heal works really well for me. My 1st use of Pashana too and I think its going to be one of my regulars.
    Regards

Glad you enjoyed your small weiner, its not the size that matters but how you use it.

If you hadn't said it, I would have.

    In Flanders Fields

    by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.
