Brush:Unknown Pure Badger
Razor:Boker Edelweiss 5/8

The Boker gave me fits on the strop. The pivot seems a bit loose, so the scales we're all over the place and throwing me out of a rhythm. The shave was great though. I've really come to like this brush... great lather builder, but a tough rougher than I like on the face. All in all, a great shave. Fantastic weather today (mid 60*) here in Northern VA, which is nice for undecorating for Christmas. Got a surprise birthday party tonight for a friend's wife, so good day to look forward to.
Enjoy the weekend, gents!

Hope you had a good one, Max. Somehow, I missed it last night, which was probably due to the bottle of wine.

'This SOTD is looking at you Maestro'
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Brush: 26mm Thäter "Ltd. Ed. SRP 2011", 2-band Silvertip Badger (Max designed and Max approved) Maxtom: 15/16" Max Sprecher, 1/4 Hollow Ground, French Point, w/ Makume Gane scales + B&W Recon wedge (Max designed and Max approved) Strop: 10/65 laps (Torolf Linen / SRD Premium IV English Bridle leather) Lather: Martin De Candre Shave Soap (Max' love affair with this soap is unquestionable) Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Lavender, no alcohol) Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-Free Moisturizer After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber AS Cologne: 1967 vintage Guerlain Habit Rouge Results: This shave is dedicated to our very own Max, on his (I won't say how old) Birthday . Everything you see here is using products that Max loves...from brush, razor to soap and cologne. I thought that rather than describing my shave of the day, I would instead share with you some of the history between Max and I. I came to know Max when back in March of 2010, I had decided to push the envelop of wetshaving, embarking on an adventure to learn the art and science of straight shaving. About March of 2010, after countless searches on Google, I somehow landed on various articles and posts by Max and in the process, found myself on his website. So, being me, I bombarded the poor man with (I am sure) some stupid questions, to which he diligently and politely replied. After this song and dance continued for a few days, he asked me to call him instead. I did and so the journey begins. I didn't even know the difference between a strop and a hone. Needless to say, the whole ritual was confusing and intimidating. I owe Max a debt of gratitude for countless many favors, which include (but are not limited to - here's the legalese fine print for the lawyers amongst you ); (1) Introducing me to SRP - I came to know SRP through Max, rather than the other way around, (2) taking the time and effort to teach and coach me in the process, (3) advising me in identifying, picking and purchasing the "right" vintage razor (differentiating between the gems and the junk) - in many ways, I am still learning this and Max has always been my trusted adviser and provided me with the "reality check" needed when it came to such delicate purchases, and (4) last but not least, our friendship, which is the best part of this adventure. There are many more points to ponder and tell you about, but alas time is fleeting and short. I wish the best of Birthdays maestro and I hope it turns out to be the healthiest and most prosperous yet. I don't know if you realize it or not, but you have, directly or indirectly touched many of our straight shaving lives and for that I am very grateful . I for one, I am very happy to have you part of my life and proud to call you a friend.
Have a TERRIFIC Birthday. Make it count as you ain't getting any younger .
