OK Boys tonight was a good one thanks to one GSsixgun

Crappy day at work, par for the course as a social worker. Came home and checked the mail and what was there??? my C-Mon Glen was restoring! I was going to test shave a razor that I am donating to a friend, but I couldn't resist. I'm sure that never happens to any of you, but I am weak!

    Tonight's menu

    prep: steaming shower
razor: 5/8's C-Mon Cadillac restored by Glen
strop: None, arrived freshly honed (blue green escher) and stropped by Glen
    brush: E&J super badger
lather: momma bears north woods+ Spiek + 5 drops of glycerin
    post: Alum
    AS: North woods by Aubrey

So seriously I am a two pass guy. WTG, ATG lets wrap it up...well I couldn't stop dragging this lil one across my ugly mug! The lather was fitting the occasion. Fragrant, slick, meringue pillows of pine and earth. The edge was deceptively sharp, but so smooth I couldn't believe it was cutting. I am more than happy with the job Glen did, and now so ashamed of my honing "abilities" lol or should I say lack there of!

    Friday

The end of one of THOSE weeks. Issues upon issues to the point of wanting to just throw one’s hands in the air and say “I surrender”. Now the wife’s car has blown up, 700 buckeroonies to fix; 700 buckeroonies we don’t have. Clearly the only option is to drop out and become a hippy. Clearly.

However, a package arrived tonight from Portugal containing Top Secret cream and Ach Brito ‘Lavanda’ cologne aftershave. I really needed to concentrate a bit on the ‘little’ things, so even though I’d shaved this morning, I ‘needed’ to shave again tonight. This morning’s shave was with the De Pews, which still has just a little way to go to be able to provide a really good shave, so the shave tonight wasn’t a waste of time (not that a shave is EVER a waste of time).

The Top Secret cream is wonderful, simply wonderful. I was considering creating my ‘top five’ list of creams. A top ten is easy, but a top five takes thought. Musgo Real is in there, as is O Melhor, T&H Trafalgar and Speick. And now, too, is Top Secret. I don’t know what it is about this cream, but the ‘glide’ is, well, astonishing. It is just so, so slick. It whips up great like other top creams and the scent is ‘nice’, not as in your face as Trafalgar, but nice…

The Ach Brito ‘Lavanda’ after shave (I think it was Mikael who put me on to this via a post here) is really very nice too. At first I was reminded of moth balls, which is entirely appropriate for an old fart like me, but now I’m thinking it’s much better than that. I’ve applied it three times since the shave (anyone else do that; keep on applying new after shaves again and again when they’re new and fresh?) and have decided I really like it. So glad I got it.

I got this from theportugalonlineshop.com. I can’t speak highly enough of the friendly customer service. Miguel is obviously chowing down happy pills buy the handful, or maybe it’s the European economy that has prompted a frenzy of customer relations exercises, whatever the reason, it certainly is nice to be treated like a valued customer for a change. I even got a free gift of Ach Brito Lime and Basil soap; the biggest bar of soap that ever DID live, I’m sure…

All in all, a pretty shit week, but sort of made OK by a simple shave and a pretty cool brotherhood to share it with.

OK, I’m off now to re-apply some more of that after shave…

    Carl

    Here comes the Weekend!
Another splendid morning over here, warm and sunny

I got up early, got the kids off to school and had the house to myself.
Today's shave was slow and relaxing, but to get in the weekend mode, I decided some Jimi Hendrix, played aloud, would be appropriate.

A custom frameback by Charlie Lewis got the honors today, and it did the job excellently.
Some Calypso by Alraz created great suds, and the good Captain provided good vibes with the caribbean bay rum.

Yes, it was me and Miguel (nice guy and nice name ) is a really good and friendly guy. Top Secret's good as well, I need to take mine out for a ride sooner rather than later. I hope everything works out for you guys, it's a drag sometimes, life, but I've noticed that it gets better and better even though bumby at times

    I quite like it, actually...

That makes other spikes look like they're imposters in regards to spikyness!

Yeah, he does sound really nice, it's good to see. He certainly has an ongoing customer in me! Thanks for the comments. I'm sure we'll work through it. There are people WAY worse off, even if I do feel like the Biblical Job at times :-)
