Prep: Hot Shower / Rise Baby Face Shave Gel Rub Razor: 6/8 Clauss Hones: 50 felt / 100 Horsehide / 100 chestnut cowhide Brush: 24mm Silvertip Uber: Od Spice Original Shaving Soap in Old Spice Mug AS: Alum Block + Old Spice Original Edc: Old Spice Cologne Result: The shave wasn't so great today, I think I managed to roll the edge stropping last shave. I used it 2 days ago and it was wonderful. I thought maybe the lather was at fault, but no. I must have done something to it stropping, that's all I can think of. I finished up my last 2 passes with my Mandarin 4/8 and it was blazingly smooth and keen and the lather was wonderful. 3 passes and DFS. I'm taking the Clauss back to the hones as soon as I finish posting. I'm sure glad I have learned more about honing, because I love this razor. Classic Old SPice is a wonderful change, going back in time to a period when I had one AS and One EdT.
Have a Great Wednesday My Brothers In Blades!!
Mike
p.s. This pic is post honing, she's back to her old self, I'll not be able to really shave test it until tomorrow!-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

Wednesday
Kukri 4/8
NF2213
Derby Cream
Alum
Pashana original AS
By the look of it Rosie the Labrador could tell that the edge of Kukri was past its best on needed re-honing. That said the shave was very acceptable and I guess its the kind of edge past generations would have used much of the time as they eked the time between sending them out to be honed.Regards

03-22-2012, 09:34 AM #130I've taken the day off to stay home with my daughter who's a bit under the weather with a cold.
And that gave me plenty of time for a relaxing shave
Today I decided to go with a freshly honed Mastro Livi. It performed very well, I'm always amazed by how super-sharp this blade gets.
Today's software was all Truefitt and Hill 1805. Cream, ASB and Cologne.
The Chubby whipped up some delicious suds!
All in all, another stellar shave
As you can see in the picture, the snow is all but gone now A couple more days of this weather and I'm officially gonna call it spring!Last edited by Birnando; 03-22-2012 at 09:52 AM.
