I've been in a similar mode lately, 3-4 shaves per week.
Enjoy it Jeff! Your zeal for life inspires me, thanks for sharing so much of your life, it makes me stop and take pause of my own often.
Grant, not a single night goes by that myself and my family don't pray for your family and little Jack (if I were to forget, my sweet little Lily Kate is sure to remind me to pray for him and Carl's grandson Bailey). Thank you so much for sharing and keeping us updated, you and your family are amazing!
To all my friends on the SOTD, I just have so much going on at the moment that I'm struggling to feel motivated each and every day. My wife has struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts for the last 3 years, my work situation has become dicey at best as of late, and I know that one day (hopefully not to long from now) that all will become clear. I just can't find my motivation these days, I still love my straight razors and each of your posts makes me feel better. It's a strange thing, I love the SOTD, but as of late, I find myself depriving myself of it because I don't feel I deserve it (to feel good). Recently a large Chain pharmacy misread my wife's prescription that left her numb and unable to stand for 3 days (they gave her Tramodal instead of Trazadone). It's been a lot to deal with and I can honestly say that I miss the SOTD. I hope to regain balance and motivation again, but until then. Thanks for being there!

Glenn,
Thank you for sharing. Just as you have demonstrated with your words about Jacky and Bailey, what makes this group so great is that we are a family. I can't imagine the stressors that you are dealing with. I've been through the dicey work situation in the past year, so I get that, but the other aspects are a horror beyond words. Know simply that those of us in the SOTD brotherhood, and SRP generally, are here for you. If ever you need a shoulder or an ear, all you need do is ask. In the meantime, you will be in our thoughts! He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

Once again Bill has expressed my feelings and sentiments quite clearly. I've not dealt with the job situation myself, but my wife has so I can empathize.
Glenn, if you need anything, call. You and your family are in my prayers and thoughts.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

Thanked: 485Wednesday
I wrote today on another thread about the diversion this forum offers. Today I learnt that Bailey (my grandson) has a bone infection and a staph infection and needs to be on a drip for six weeks, and then another operation. I thought we’d passed this ridiculous phase and now here we are again on that insane roundabout with hospital visits and stuff. At almost 50, it’s like I’ve only really grown up in the last year. It was April last year Bailey was diagnosed with bone cancer. And then I found this site a month or so later, which is my diversional therapy. I’m not saying that flippantly…
The shave was excellent, but I got a cut; one that bled. I think the trip on the Shapton 16k on the weekend wasn’t what it could have been, I normally get a smoother edge. I think I used too much pressure.
The Überlather was very close to perfect. A nice mix. I’m thinking it could be my ‘main cream’. The soft scents complimented each other.
The Trafalgar is a great after shave, it’s in my top three.
No GIMP effects on this photo, just cropping and rotating. I might buy some medium format slide film on the weekend, I could be the first person to post a 'SOTD' taken with a 1950's Rolleicord TLR on Velvia slide film...possibly...
(I can't resist posting the photo of Bailey with hair...and icecream...)

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 485Excellent! Good news! I'm so glad it was good news, I was really worried for you all...
Yeah, I agree. I tried the Derbys and a few others, but after I tried the Astras there is no reason to move on from there... :-)

I'd like to take this moment to confess that I cried at the cinema during The Lion King. I also cried in 'Up', 'Sounder', 'A Very Long Engagement', 'The Sixth Sense' while reading 'Watership Down', 'House at Pooh Corner', 'Algonquin; a Great Dog' and 'The Incredible Journey'.
Just thought I'd better come clean on all that...Last edited by carlmaloschneider; 03-20-2012 at 10:09 AM.
