Ok Came home to work on a home study and what did I find in the mail today? Why its a 1305 Semogue and guess what? I am in love with a stinky pig brush....I said it, I am in LOVE with a stinky pig brush! It makes my Omega 48 seem, well it make it seem lacking. I know I should have shampooed and lathered it a few times, but I just needed to know how it performed.

    so here goes

Strop: walking horse English bridle and linen
    Brush: Semogue 1305 Boar
    Soap: Mamma Bears North Woods
    Razor: TI Sheffield 6/8
    Post: Alum
    AS: Jovan Musk

Pulled the brush out of the box. Let it soak for 3 minutes, Soaked MB's in hot water for 3 minutes. Touched brush to soap and BOOM....WTF? my other boars did not make lather on the puck like that! spun for 45 seconds or so swept up the lather into a bowl and holy crap this little brush performs! 2 pass no irritation shave today I am a happy boy.

    carlmaloschneider,

Thank you. She's a restored razor from a nearby vintage straight razor vendor.

Prep: Hot Shower / Barbasol Soak / Virgin Olive Oil Rubbed in both passes
    Razor: 6/8 Genco Henry's XX
    Hones: 4/8k, N12k, 100 Horsehide / 200 Chestnut post honing / 100 Horsehide prior to shave
Brush: 24mm Silvertip in American Ash by WillN
Uber: TOBS Eton College + 4 drops Glycerine
AS: Alum Block + Lucky Tiger Splash
    Edc: Navy for Men
Result: A fantastic DFS in 2 passes. This is one of my favorite razors and after working it on the Naniwa it gave a fantastic shave. Smooth as silk, but half as expensive! LOL. Seriously the Naniwa makes all the difference in the results. Everything in this shave was the result of gifts, except the razor, which was an EBay save. Original honing on this razor was done free by Logistics. The Horsehide strop and TOBS, my wife, the 4/8 Norton and the Naniwa, Roy Boy, the Brush by WillN (cost me almost nothing, a gift of sorts, I couldn't afford full price), the Navy and Lucky Tiger from my sons. This whole shave only served to remind me that there are folks who love and support me. I am a lucky guy!

Have a Great Week My Brothers In Blades!

1,000th post gents... A Milestone has been reached, friends pointed it out and suggested I make it a good one. I felt the best way to post my 1000th was with this wonderful shave in the SOTD Forum! This was my best ever self restored razor and a perfect fit for my 1000th post. If not for SRP none of this would have been possible. Also in 1 week, I will celebrate my 1 year membership on this great site, and I just passed my 1 year anniversary shaving with Straight razors!

That is an average of 20 posts per week. I must have too much time on my hands!! But seriously, it has been a great year for me and straight shaving, and I am priveledged to be able to share it all with you.

My 1305 is without question the best brush in my rotation. If memory serves, it was...well...a bit gamey at first (that's putting it pretty nicely.) But like you I quickly learned that it was all about performance and this brush really does rock! Non Opus Non Foetore Ianthinis (We Don't Need No Stinking Badgers)
