    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Brush: Simpson Chubby 1
    Razor: Hart Steel 6/8
Strop: 40/60 Neil Miller Linen/Kanayama Cordovan
    Soap: MWF
    After shave: Alt Innsbruck
Results: The Hart has been in need for a touch up a while so I took her for a spin on the stones today, not sure where I went wrong as I was interrupted several times by my seven year old son and his buddy, but something wasn't just right. It shaved well and quite comfortable, but not quite "there", well well, back to the hones she goes, practice makes perfect right?

Need help or tutoring? Check out the  .

Razor: Dovo Special - Faux Toitoise
    Pre-Shave:Prorazo green tea version
    Shave: Derby Menthol
    Brush: Small 100% Badger
After Shave:Nivea alcohol free post shave balm
    Result: Greatest shave to date

Well I finally understand this thread. This is only shave 10 or so for me but WOW! I figured something out. I had about a 3 day beard growth and lots of time. I stropped my razor ~90 times on a boarded strop nice and slow. Then I let my brush soak in hot water for 4 minutes. After I worked up a lather using the Derby shave cream. I use a small stainless steel metal bowl but leave the lather sitting in another large cup full of hot water to keep the lather warm (since I cant yet afford a scuttle... someday).

Then I took a shower and cleaned my face very well followed by a little conditioner. I jumped out of the shower and dried off (not my face) and put on the lather and let it sit for about a minute working it in well first ofcourse. Next the hot towel treatment to my face for about 3 minutes wiping off all the shaving cream. Then really rubbed in the prorazo pre-shave cream as discussed on another post. Then a really nice warm lather again with my Derby menthol still warm from sitting in my makeshift scuttle. Then a really soft and slow shave, only WTG cause im still learning and not the chin yet... And I have never felt such a great shave in my life. It was peaceful and relaxing, no nicks, cuts or tugging at all I figured something out with the angle that has a smile still on my face.

After it was all done a generous helping of Nivea shave balm and I was good to go to work.

This has been the best so far and if anyone has suggestions I'm all ears. Learning what works is starting to work...

Razor: 5/8 Griffon XX 'Tonsorial Artist' fresh off the stones from bevel set to finish: King 1k, Norton 4/8, 10 laps 1 micron on leather. SRD 2" Red Latigo strop: 20 Herringbone Cotton, 40 leather
Prep: Espresso with milk and a tablespoon of sugar(2nd str8 shave-need to stay alert!), shower, St. Ives 2% salicylic acid peach scrub, beard area pre-soak in Nivea canned goo while finishing shower, splash of Thayers lavender, Pacific shaving oil
Shave Cream: Truefitt & Hill 1805 sample
Brush: Vulfix 660S large super badger
After Shave: Alum, rinse, pat dry, more Thayers lavender followed by Truefitt & Hill 1805 ASB sample
Result: I'm really pleased with this one. I'm learning to hone and did my Griffon today. It came close to my honemeister'd benchmark blade and I thought this was pretty cool. Also, I am learning to str8 shave and noticed some improvement from the last time

Hell, if 1961 is the watermark for young whippersnappers, I'm in! (circa Fall 1962). Sorry to hear about the Duck, my scraggly old cat is my best buddy and has supervised many a shave but yeah, occassionally, he's a P.I.T.A. too. One day I'll score a Golden Edge (and one of those brand spankin new Peterson System pipes too.)
