Gentlemen, today's shave was at 7:30, which is quite late for me, since I'm up at 4 a.m. daily. It was a good shave. The music was a recording by Jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli. One of the songs was "Jermyn Street," which was appropriate, since the cream I used is one of my preferred creams: Jermyn Street by Taylor of Old Bond Street. I love both the soap and the cream versions of Taylor's Jermyn Street. Incidentally, Stephane Grappelli formed the famous jazz quintet the Hot Club of Paris in 1932 with the gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. Delightful music. Anyway, I thought I'd match the cream with the music — all part of the ritual.

Cream: Jermyn Street by Taylor of Old Bond Street

Witch hazel

Aftershave: Woods of Windsor — have never been without this treasure of an aftershave

I had a very nice shave today.
The short list is:
Edwin Jagger DE89
Arko
Shea Moisture Badger
Thayer's
I am still trying to figure out the best way to attack my neck hairs. They are so stuborn, it is just so hard to get a close shave on my neck without nicking myself!
I also got my new Dovo Sliver Steel a few weeks ago. I just love it! Although, it is not sharp enough, and I don't know why. I have shaved with it four times, the first and second time I didn't strop it, so I could be sure that my stropping wouldn't affect its sharpness. Right away I noticed that it wasn't cutting like a DE blade. I did test it on my arm hair before my first shave and it easily shaved a small patch off my arm. That was the only thing I did before I shaved with that blade, so I don't think I would have dulled it.
I just don't understand, because it was honed by Lynn since I bought it at SRD, so I'm sure he did a wonderful job. And thats why I'm confused why it isn't shaving like I expected.
It could partially be my technique but the sharpness between the Dovo and my DE blades is night and day.
I would be very grateful if anyone could offer some insight as to what could be going on.

A great but very simple shave for a busy Saturday. Last nights storms seemed to have passed but some high clouds seem to be lingering. Tunes for the shave was one I haven't heard in ages. I know, cheesy 80's music but it makes me smile remembering a simpler time when I had a less jaded view of the world.
