I am seriously in love with that blackened blade, and the barber's notch too! Hell, I love everything about that razor

    Friday

I need a new book to read “pre-shave, whilst sitting down” each morning if you get my drift. I’ve just finished some Kafka short stories and picked up ‘Shame’ by Salman Rushdie; I like the way he writes, but I don’t think I’m in the mood for him. Possibly Plato again?

I wonder what other people read “pre-shave, whilst sitting down” each morning, if they indeed do. I understand that in India sales of the newspaper are huge, contrary to western trends, as having a newspaper is a ‘badge’ to state “I am one of the literate”. We all have ‘badges’ to represent the person we want to project; the person we want to be; the group we want to say we belong to…

I often like short pieces, poetry, or short stories. After all, the occasion does not lend itself well to reading The Lord of the Rings…

Anyway, what are you (if you are) currently reading each morning “pre-shave, whilst sitting down”? (or it could be post shave, I guess)

    Razor: De Pews
    Pre-Shave : Sukin Facial Moisturiser
Pre-Shave Text : ‘Shame’ by Salman Rushdie
Cream : Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad
    After Shave: Floïd

Interesting point; I don't normally read much in the morning as time is precious for not being (very) late in the office, but certainly I do get the chance to flick through a couple of newspapers (WSJ and The Guardian usually) in my iPad. Nothing beats the flair & feeling of holding a printed book in your hands, of course...

Yes. I thought that it would be a nice contrast to the ivory scales. Now it's ebony and ivory.
