I don’t have a dedicated razor in my rotation for Friday yet, I’m waiting on my brother to get off his bottom and polish one up for me. He’s extremely meticulous. All the screw heads on the shed he built face the same way. But things take him a long time. I want everything started and completed in one day; which is why I’m no good at anything that takes more than one day.

I heard on the radio today that what most people want is to be able to lose themselves, to be become ‘one’ with nature (people, love, etc), and not to have to ‘project’ a personality. The person on the radio went on to talk of how one can lose themselves in their art, or work, or whatever.

I immediately thought of shaving; and how, if you really try, you can in fact become very focussed in the act and ‘become one’ with the act; the art.

I guess it’s the same for people who can play the piano, or guitar, or paint or whatever.

This morning’s shave (I mean, I, me) lacked mojo in the lather making department. I was not one with the act...

    Default Face Carving!!

    5/8 G. Felix + GEM SE / 24mm Silvertip / TOBS Sandalwood / Lucky Tiger Splash / Cuba Gold

No Pics today, I've been horribly occupied building a new PC as my old(er) PC took a complete dive this week and I lost the MB and CPU. The architecture is from 2008 and I was unable to find replacement parts for it to re-use the MB or CPU depending on which died. I had to get a new MB and CPU which meant I can't re-use the memory. So I basically had to build a PC from scratch. I sold my memory to a friend who had the same architecture and could use the memory so I recovered a little on it. But first I thought it was the PS and spent 70$ I didn't need to only to find out it was either the CPU or MB. Once installed, no taking it back!! Dangit! But I'm up and running again after a PC Build and complete OS re-install which for me takes about 3 days to patch and install all my needed applications. Backups are no good when your using what amounts to a new system. The OS won't run when all the drivers for the hardward are completely different. So much for my backups this time around. But, nothing was lost as far as files and such, so it could have been worse!

So, I'm back at the SOTD again, and happy for it.

Todays shave brought with it another fail for the week. The way this week has gone I should have expected it. My new G. Felix, which I restored right at the end of last week, and honed just before my computer died, shaved fantastically. I did one full pass and it was very nice. My friend John had loaned me several GEM SE razors to try, and gave me one to keep for myself! Thank you John!! BUT! After showering and shaving with my Felix, I put a blade in my GEM and started on my right cheek to do a little touchup.

Well, I didn't have the blade seated correctly in the GEM and first stoke carved a nice line of skin right out of my cheek. In my inexperience with the razor, I thought it was my angle, so I did a second stroke and carved another large line of skin out of the same cheek, just a 1/2" lower. I reached for my glasses this time and had a good look, only to discover that the blade was not seated under the retainers and was in crooked and had a corner sticking way out crookedly and was literally cutting my face every stroke. I fixed the blade, but the damage was done and I have 2 large slices where it actually removed skin. OUCH!!!! I finished my touchups and made a mental note to NEVER put the blades in without your glasses on!!! LOL.

Oh well, lesson learned, but now I have to let the face heal some before I can hit that spot again. It scabbed over ok, but is sure tender. FOOL!!!

Enjoy the coming weekend all.. TGIF
