Thanked: 485The photos are 30% of why I frequent this thread. 30% is seeing nice razors and other hardware and software and techniques I may want to try and the other 30 odd percent is idle chit chat and passing pleasantries. You people are WAY nicer to talk to and WAY better behaved than my workmates, but the excellent photography (of what I guess is essentially still life subjects) is a real motivator to try different photographic techniques. I like to see all the different razors guys have, but I don't care if I've seen a razor a million times, if the photo is good, and it's something where I say "I like that idea (light/effect/aspect/focus/shadow/post production), I might try that" then it's well worth posting, at least for me :-)
I also like to hear about what people on the other side of the world are doing. I actually often think about the day to day lives of people on the forum, when I look at the location. It's interesting to think "I wonder what's happening with that guy in [insert country], I wonder what the weather's like, or what the scenery on their way to work is like", etc. It's such a diverse group here it's quite entertaining. That's what I think, anyway :-)

Thanked: 485Friday
I don’t have a dedicated razor in my rotation for Friday yet, I’m waiting on my brother to get off his bottom and polish one up for me. He’s extremely meticulous. All the screw heads on the shed he built face the same way. But things take him a long time. I want everything started and completed in one day; which is why I’m no good at anything that takes more than one day.
I heard on the radio today that what most people want is to be able to lose themselves, to be become ‘one’ with nature (people, love, etc), and not to have to ‘project’ a personality. The person on the radio went on to talk of how one can lose themselves in their art, or work, or whatever.
I immediately thought of shaving; and how, if you really try, you can in fact become very focussed in the act and ‘become one’ with the act; the art.
I guess it’s the same for people who can play the piano, or guitar, or paint or whatever.
This morning’s shave (I mean, I, me) lacked mojo in the lather making department. I was not one with the act...

04-27-2012, 10:48 AM #195Prep: Hot shower
Brush: New Forest 2201, extra stuffed
Razor: Bengal by T R Cadman & sons
Soap: Cade
AS: Floris, Elite
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean
Another very nice razor - it has bent scales (but the blade centers and doesn't touch them and they're in a very healthy condition), rather heavy toe wear (but somehow I honed it good) and yet it shaved me very well, indeed. Love Cade, thlick lather. The DE safety razor's a prop and it's a Swedish razor from what I think was the largest DE manufacturer back in the day over here - Matador.
