Thanked: 485Why, thank you very much. Your Fartmann is also a nice razor.
You too? My wife calls it 'whoring'.
"Oh you're not going to do your whoring again, are you?" she says.
"It's HONING, Cindy" I reply.
"Whatever" she says.
Sometimes I wish it was whoring, but other times....
Oh wow! My parents brought me one back from Germany when they visited a few years ago. My father is German. It was good to have something from the region he was born in (which I actually now can't recall, I should remind myself- heritage is important. I like putting my beer stein in the freezer and using it freezing cold, but only in the summer, being part English, I also don't mine beer at air temperature...Last edited by carlmaloschneider; 05-08-2012 at 09:46 AM.

Thanked: 485Tuesday
Loved the smoothness of the Wade and Butcher this morning; such a smooth edge.
Was happy to re-visit Proraso cream, I haven’t used this for a little while but the unseasonable warm weather called for it.
Matched Dominican Bay Rum with ‘Whiskey’ Eau de Toilette. They matched perfectly.
This afternoon a lady at work walked by and said “Oh, you smell nice”. This gave me the opportunity to say “Thank you. Did I tell you about my obsession with straight razors? I did, didn’t I? Well, that has opened up to the wonderful world of creams and Eau De Colognes and aftershaves and things, and brushes made of badger hair. Today, I have on Dominican Bay Rum, and on top of that I have a cologne called ‘Whisky’, so I smell like I’ve been playing poker all night but don’t have the headache or lost money. You might be able to smell the tones of tobacco soaked in port wine?"
It was about this time that I noticed from her furtive, quick eye movements and concentration on the filing cabinet that she was looking for an escape.
“Well, you smell nice”, she said.
I probably need to remember that if it happens again I should just say “Thank you” and move on…
Razor: Wade and Butcher Pre-Shave: None Cream: Proraso After Shave: Dominica bay Rum Eau de Toilette: ‘Whiskey’

Thanked: 485It was the funniest thing you ever saw on Sunday. Me and my little (14 year old) son sitting in the car at the bus stop waiting for my older son to arrive so we could catch the bus down town. We had to wait an hour. I had a 'Idiots Guide to learning German' CD set in the car. It was hilarious. We got up to "How are you?" "I am very good".

Carl: I only know one sentence in German and it's not a nice one. Same with the words I know (well, except for thank you, you're welcome and hello), I must have a filthy mind. Isch bien sehr gut! HA, not a filthy line, even though maybe not entirely correct ... I must getting old

05-08-2012, 10:54 AM #69Prep: Hot shower
Brush: New Forest, mountain badger
Razor: Tosuke
Soap: Cade
AS: Floid, blue Italian
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean
My God, this razor's the sharpest one I got - no kidding, it's prob sharper than the Feather pro blades I've got for my Feather. + it has the meanest point I've ever seen, it's like a chisel point... Needless to say, the bloody point got me twice, nothing serious, but it was a long time since Mr Nick and his bloody brother came by.
... and coffee:

Thanked: 146Tuesday
Prep: Hot Shower/ Proraso pre-post creme
Scuttle: G5
Brush: Thater 4125-2
Soap: MWF
Razor: Bresduck Special No.1, 11/16" square point
Post: Proraso AS/ Nivea Lotion unscented
Result: YES! Back to a great shave. Tried my first DE shave yesterday and while it was OK, it was not nearly as close as a good straight. I picked up a Gillette slim 1962 in great shape for 3 bucks over the weekend, paired with a merkur blade it did a good job, but not nearly as close as a straight. Probably my technique, but I had a great shave with my old 1912 GEM, so life is too short and I am off to work again.
Have a Great Tuesday Gents!
Carl, you have me intrigued about that Whiskey!
