    Prep: Water Splash
Pre-shave: 1st pass Castle Forbes, 2nd Pass AOS Sandalwood Oil
    Cream: AOS Sandalwood
    Brush: Omega
    Razor: Bismarck
Post: Cold Water Splash and Towel
Balm: AOS Sandalwood and Skincado Combat Ready Balm
    AS: Clubman

Well, I finally got the Dovo up and running. This was my second razor, which was the victim of some aggressive cleaning measures on my part. It started with an issue with the finish. Not sure what happened but apparently Aloe Vera gel eats away at a mirror finish. I started with some Blue Magic Polish and ended with the gold wash being washed away. Lesson learned. I guess. Oh yeah, the shave went well. I got the razor honed up fairly well using six layers of tape. All I used was the Norton 4/8 K and some Chromium Oxide to finish. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well.

    Thursday

Well, just got off the phone to the wife and she tells me Bailey’s MRI is all clear; still no sign of the cancer. I remembered to say “Dear God, thank you” and sort of heard a “That’s OK Carl” reply.

The shave was great; I’m really nailing it these days. I haven’t used a pre-shave in ages; weeks or months even. I just splash hot water on my face after the shower. I don’t want to muck around when the bathroom is so cold in the morning. I’m getting to the point where I can make a pretty nice lather out of either soap or cream of both, too; though I haven’t made an Überlather for ages now and also mainly use natural soaps these days. I think learning to lather with soap makes one a better latherer. I’m surprised ‘lather’ is a word; at least ‘Word’ thinks it is, so that’s cool. I think teaching prisoners makes one a better teacher. I’m using a little less water in my lathers lately, a lot less water really. I really just use what’s left on the brush after five shakes (not really ‘shakes’; picture a very fast elevator (lift) going down 10 floors) and what happens to cling to the bowl; though with the colder weather more does indeed cling to the bowl post emptying.

Good day to you all, my Shave Of The Day Brotherhood. And may we all be united in comradeship and love.

Hmmm. I've been thinking lately of increasing the amount of patina on my De Pews. I've read somewhere about 'creating' patina; I wonder how Aloe Vera would work? It might be cool to be able to use a natural product to do this. Maybe I'll do a test and but a spot of fluid squeezed from a plant onto one of my razors overnight? Consider it done. Report due tomorrow this time +1...

    Thursday
Prep: Hot Shower/ Proraso pre-post creme
    Brush: AOS Badger
    Scuttle: G5
    Soap: Experimental
    Razor: DD Special #1
Post: Proraso AS, Nivea Lotion unscented
Result: My Daughter in law is a chemist and she likes to experiment occasionally. She made up some shaving gel and gave it to me to try. This has got to be the slickest stuff I have ever used but doesn't foam up much. So the glide was phenomenal, the cushion good, and the after moisturizing was also good. It has a modern fresh scent. Not bad for her first attempt! She said to tell her how it worked and she had a couple other formulas to try. Kinda fun to experiment. Nice close 3 pass shave with the DD performing flawlessly. Hope the rest of the day goes this smoothly.

Excellent news, my friend. I wish Bailey continued success in his battle.
