09-08-2012, 07:43 AM #181Prep: Hot shower
Brush: New Forest knot in n old barbers handle
Razor: Magna
Soap: Nannys French Lavender + Muhle cream
AS: Lacoste Challenge
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean indeed
Nice combo with the soap, excellent slip and cushion + this razor's a sweet shaver (if you like hollow and flexible blades it doesn't get much better than this one, I think).
... and a lovely mega cappuccino, my large Motto jug came out and two double shots of this went down

I start to guess where is the best expresso in Sweden Mikael.......I go to having a coffee right now. Unfortunately I have run out of "Volcan de Oro", the coffee from Guatemala that I like a lot

Oh my goodness me what HAVE I done? I believe I may have unbalanced the natural order of things. It is scarcely believable that I’ve been able to hone this razor this well. There comes a time in a straight shaver’s life where he says “I can hone”. It’s taken me a full course of seasons to get here, but today I can say with confidence “I can hone”.
This was actually quite a rushed shave. Not in the vibe at all, yet it’s the closest and smoothest with a straight yet. It had the same massive honing ritual that the Jernbolaget was subjected to, two hours of steady honing. I used only my thumb to test the edge, and a hand held magnifying glass. I did two ‘laps’ of tiny little circles on the 4k and then straight to the pyramid below.
The actual shave was with an Über of Mike’s Natural, Faulding ‘Shave’ and glycerine; nice and warm in the bowl and on the face. Prep was a hot shower and some ‘Sukin’ natural conditioner on the beard whilst in the shower. After the honing which was this morning (I shaved early evening) I did 30/70 on the Neil Miller English Bridle strop. That strop really ‘brings out’ an edge.
The Madame Scodioli ‘Step Right Up’ aftershave was just the thing for a cool spring evening at home with pizzas and movies and assorted family, including Bailey my grandson.
The shape of the blade on this razor makes using the heel difficult; and I like to shave a lot with the heel, esp for cutting in around my goatee, soul patch and moustache, and it also feels a little odd in my hand, a little too large for the thin tang. It’s a really, really nice razor to shave with though, and I think I’ll appreciate it more the more I shave with it.
Thanks Mikael! Those three Swedish razors have REALLY nice steel!

Thanks!
You guys take fancy schmancy photos. Guess I should set up a light box.I dream of a world where a chicken can cross a road without having it's motives questioned.

Haven't had any internet access all week because the family & I are away from home visiting family & friends.
However I've managed to get some internet time while I'm staying at my parents house in Sydney tonight.
This Head Shave was last nights shave, one of those slightly awkward, clumsy hotel room shaves.
My head is back to shiny smooth though so I'm feeling a lot better.
Havent shaved the face in about a week, but I'll wait till I get home tomorrow.
Now to try and catch up on reading the last 6 days of SOTD.

No shave for me today, but I did get out for some early morning picture taking along the Potomac River here in Alexandria:
